Incredible!! Id be extremely lucky to do that once! Even half of that! lol. Christ me 500lbs! Thats 3 of me!
wow, he's the king of legs!
I think Tom Platz and Dr. Squat were having an exhibition competition. They did a max weight squat event, which Dr. Squat won, then the 500 squat for reps, which Platz won. I wish the whole thing were on video.
this video is older than me. but way cooler.
Any idea what he or Doc Squat maxed?
i just researched tom, he was an absolute animal! read this guys
they both were 1000+ squatters kevin
im pretty sure hatfield was the first to break the 1000lb barrier
I do not think tom platz squated anywhere near a 1,000 pounds.
he was around 800.
that was one of the point of his challenge with fred hatfied. fred got a much bigger single lift. but tom was much better at repping.
No way Platz squatted 1000lbs. Not more than ~800, and I think I read somewhere that Dr. Squat won with an 800-something. Remember that he probably never did max singles in his training, so he could do reps with a much higher percentage than most powerlifters.
I remember that contest. I did a search and here were the numbers I came up with - obviously they are NOT exactly correct, but they are pretty close and I remembered Tom doing something in the 600s for his max .
Actually, back in the 80's, Tom Platz and Fred Hatfield had a squat competition. Tom did a single with 640 and Fred did 825. Fred then did 525 for 11 and Tom did 525 for 25, if I remember correctly.
