Over Did It On The Calfs

worked my calfs for the first time a few days ago and this morning I could barely get out of bed...can't straighten my legs, having to resort to walking on tip toes, bloody aching....anybody got any ideas to recover from this?

Wow. What the heck did you do for a calf workout? Mine rarely get sore even if I work them really heavy.

    just been a while

haven't really concentrated on them for a while, just did 5x12 of standing calf raises....two days later I'm paying for it now...fine when i sit and lie but when i stand 'sweet baby jesus' it hurts...look like old man walking, taken a few hot baths....deep heat etc.....but i guess its just time that will make them get back to normal

Just give it a few days...maybe take some pain relievers. I did that once and I couldn't walk correctly for like a week. Just give it some time and don't do anymore work on your calves for a little bit. If it doesn't go away after a while, go see a doc. Mine went away and I stopped going so ridiculously intense on the calves after that.

Yeah, I had the same thing a few weeks ago. I just took it easy with a heat wrap and some Icy Hot. It got better after like 3 days for me.

I did 5 sets of squats and could barely move for about 2 weeks... sometimes the muscle is just not used to being overloaded.. sounds like you did too many sets and reps...

ps i am very surprised that scarz didn’t make fun of the OP, when he typed calfs instead of calves haha

That happened to me after the first day of soccer training camp my freshman year. I could not walk flat footed for the whole day. Never had that happen before or since.

yeah been there my friend, literally couldn't walk for 4 days. I think its best to ease slowly into working a new muscle out properly, otherwise this is the result! shouldn't happen again once the muscle gets used to it though.
