    Why bother?

Guy came up to ne at the gym this morning and asked how I developed my biceps, shoulders and traps. I told him I did barbel curls for bis, mil press for shoulders and upright rows for traps. Also mentioned that deadlifts and bent over rows helped with traps, shoulders and bis. He said "but don't you do preacher curls and shrugs?" I said no, never do. He then said "but upright rows are bad for your rotator cuff and barbel curls don't isolate like dumbells and precaher curls." He then walked away wth a dazed and confused look. As I left I saw him doing some light dumbell lateral raises.

The next time anyone asks for help I will tell them to do tricep kickbacks and drink lots of kiwi juice. That's the big secret. Anything but hard work.

Not against helping someone who will take the advice but recent history has shown me that people are loking for a quick fix and are not willing to work hard and be disciplined. Chill.

For some reason I find your threads hilarious. When people ask me how I got bigger (which I know I'm not that big in the grand scheme of things) I just say I ate food. And then they really look at me funny. But, To each their own. I ask people questions at the gym here and there. I think it's a learning experience.

I remember one time asking this guy if he did anythign to help him with pullups (he's 220+ and repped out 12) and he said "I manned the **** up and did them". The answer worked for me, but I was genuine, because my pullups sucked and I was trying to get better.

When I made the huge weight gain last year (40lbs in 6 months from 150's to 190's) my friends all looked at me different. Some kidded with me asking me if I was juicing. I guess no one has heard of food and lifting heavy @#% weights. They asked how I got big and I told them. Then they went back to doing what they were doing. I find it funny how people don't listen to people who have actual results whether it be lifting, school, or anything in life. Perhaps they think we are lying. My dream is for someone to come up to me and ask me if I am either Superman or an NFL player. It would be cool to be my size and deadlift 500 or 600lbs in front of an entire gym and just walk away like I am superhuman.

Psst.... upright rows *can* be disasterous for your rotator cuff and preacher curls help curb the inclination to throw your back into doing a barbell curl (I bb curl leaning against the wall to the same effect).

So I've heard but the upright row has worked wonders for me and is my favorite exercise. As for the barbell curl. I just use good form and never sac technique for ego.

You're experienced enough to keep strict form on both. Quite often a newbie isn't and hurt themselves (I fall into this camp). I stand by the other guy's choice in exercises, especially the light lateral raises, which are excellent for shoulder conditioning.

    Makes me sick.
Out of the night that covers me,Black as the Pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul. In The fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate how charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

I don't quite get it, but I've heard a few people talking under their breath about how "I'm not that big". Dunno about you guys but I think 5'10 265 isn't too shabby at all considering most that height and weight can't see their penis anymore. And most of the time its these little scrawny ****s who say it too... like 12% bf but 5'5 and 160 pounds.

I've never actually had anyone ask me how I got "big". I guess most people in my area don't think I am. But I did get asked how long I've been lifting after a guy watched me do a set of zerchers with 315.

No .. He was doing it on purpose. It wasn't cute. He was attempting to mock me.
