    Books for University

Hey everyone, I just finished buying my school books for this semester. I found 2 of the 3 books I needed on Amazon.com and saved about 60$ from what it would have cost me buying them used from my school book store.

When you find out what you need, Amazon is the way to go. Just be careful because sometimes it isn't very clear what edition it is.

Yay for staying at home for university.

Oh, and it wasn't my idea actually... It was my crazy math teacher from last winter semester... I had bought the wrong textbook for the class and didn't realize (I got the single variable edition... I needed the complete edition with both the single and multi variable editions included...) Anyway, I asked if I could hand an assignment in late and explained my situation... The next class when I told him I spent 150$ or whatever stupid amount to get my assignment in on time he gave me a big lecture and found the book (in paperback edition though...) on Amazon for 7$ or something ridiculous like that. Sadly, I wasn't able to find that good of deals on the books I needed this year.

I've considered doing that, but I'm afraid I'm going to get a book in really ****ty condition. I tend to buy mine from friends and we don't rip each other off

My girlfriend does the same thing. She purchases them off of eBay, or Amazon and then when end of semester comes around she goes to the book store and turns them in. She makes good money off of them.

I just don't buy books unless it's absolutely necessary. My first few years I bought all the books and they just sat on my desk because we never used them or never got as far as planned in the class.

    Agreed.

I wait about a week though. Last semester I only bought two books out of four that I "needed". The other two books we literally never used.

Our bookstore sells used textbook at 25% off. The good thing is that you can flip through them to check the condition they're in before you buy them. For the most part, the university won't buy them back unless they're in good condition so you're pretty much guaranteed to get an almost-new book.

Yup. Usually way better than Amazon.

I paid for all my books for the first semester already, since they were all pretty cheap and its my first year. I'll probably wait at least a week from now on before I buy anything.

Probably 1 or 2 workouts a week there... Not too sure yet... I've been training at Adrenaline and I'll still be training there so it'll just be whenever it's convenient basically...

We should definitely hook up for a few workouts though.

My school has a subscription to www.books24x7.com It's all sciency books I think. I suggest you check if your school has a login for it. LOTS of good resources.

What gets me is that my university has a book listed as necessary for a class that the bookstore doesn't even have yet and classes start on the 27th of this month. He's like just keep checking every 30 days.... EVERY 30 DAYS!!!!! This is a book that actually HAS something to do with my major T_T

At my old school (W. Michigan Univ.), I bought used books and found that if I took off the used sticker, when I sold them back to the bookstore, they gave me the % based on if it were new. So if I did have to buy books, I made money.
