Seriously, can my abs ever get ripped?

I've been training for the past 3 years, i've cut right down to 182lbs, and gone back up to 210lbs...

Currently i'm roughly 196lbs which is my average weight.

i've tried and i've tried but nothing seems to help me lose my belly and get definition on my abs... I was so skinny it hurt but i still had this belly,

I lose weight, and my chest and arms look great but i still look like a skinny fat man around my belly.

Anyone whose finally lost their belly wants to share a secret i'm all ears

When you were at 186 what was your BF roughly? What is it now? The only way is to get your abs strong and then cut down the bodyfat.

I was at one time about 201... but a fat 201.Since then I lost about 35-40 lbs and now I weigh around 165. By no means am I ripped, but sometimes I am able to see my abs. It all depends on what time of the day/ what I have eaten/ the lighting. If I sit on my bed and flex with the light right above me and the mirror about 15 feet away I can actually see six abs. If I am standing right in front of a mirror I see nothing. I have a fat roll on my lower gut, and a slight overall layer on my upper-mid gut. I'm still cutting but the lower "roll"
doesn't seem to go away. I do HIIT 2-3 times a week, plus WBB1.1 and I play football/ baseball at least 3-4 times a week so I am very active. I too would love to know the secret. I do still have have a little fat over my chest/ arms, but it is actually going away as I continue my cut. The stubborn belly fat isn't moving.

    I do HIIT 2-3 times a week, plus WBB1.1

Do you mind telling me what this means plz!?

I think its all about cutting the BF, I've got no clue what my BF is, probably the same as above (15-20%) maybe if i could get down to say 10% i might have an awsome set of abs, my girlfriend has this pic of this bloke standing next to her with the greatest abs ever and i'd bet he doesn't work out half as hard as me

There is a book, by Lyle Mcdonald, called The Ultimate Diet 2.0. If you are around 15% you should maybe give his techniques a try. You seem like a good candidate.

Some people are more predisposed to carry excess fat at the belly. I got to 7% and still had minimal deffination. Try a split like Baby got Back or a 5x5 routine. Try keeping your heart rate up during the workout too.

My training partner has the same problem, it's strange his chest, shoulders arms etc. are ripped but when he takes his shirt off you can see undefined lumps at best for abs. It comes down to dieting, I know this because he works his ass off.

    I have the same problem.

I've been lifting for about 4 years seriously, I bulked up from 153 to 223. I've done a 300+ bench press, and a 300+ weighted chin.

Now I've cut down to 185. I've had visible upper abs for about ten pounds, I have separation in my quads, clear definition in my lats and delts, etc, but I still have a fat belly and love handles.

I've counted calories nearly every day for the past year and a half. I do HIIT once a week and submission wrestling twice a week. Still fat belly.

    It's frustrating, isn't it? I think I'm going to order UD 2.0.

Ab visibility is a major function of diet. However, if you are ridiculously skinny because you don't eat you can see them, but then, I doubt that's the look you are looking for.

Clearly you need more Chips, Cheese and Mayo for those rock hard abs.

What about doign something like the B6 and b12 injections? I had a friend who did that and droped 60 pounds. of course he was overweight but damn it worked well. I would think it should do the same with someone who workouts out and is in shape. I would think
I want to be a gladiator on Spartacus. Or at least be on the same cycle as them.

Maybe being 15 - 20% bf might be part of it????

Like Zen already mentioned, it's all about genetics. You may just carry more fat around your belly. Not much you can do right now besides trying to peel some fat off.

I like my gut. I've decided a bit of a tire is manly - go with that. Who the hell wants to be an underwear model anyway?
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook

I don't understand why people think they need injections or brand name diets or the like.

To lose fat...eat less. It's really that simple. Unless of course you have some major malfunctions going on in your body...

I'm with sensei on this. I used to be REAL SKINNY but have a six pack. Now I gained a nice amount and have a little belly. Hopefully it will one day be a big strong "gut".
