My journey to become a ‘beefcake’

    Hi Everyone,

I am starting this journal to get advice from the people who read it and to keep track of my progress.

During High School I weighed a healthy 180 pounds and 4 years later, I found myself graduating university barely recognizing myself at 260 pounds (See picture below)!

The weight I gained was due to an unhealthy diet of cafeteria food and sheer laziness. I realized that my weight had become a problem and that I wasn’t happy with myself anymore. I joined a gym and a weight loss program and then began to shed the weight off. The exercises were primarily cardio but I managed to do some basic free weight exercises. I lost 30 pounds before I hit a wall and the weight loss since has been extremely difficult. (See picture below [230 pounds]).

I then began to weight lift more and stumbled onto this great website. The diet I have now is going to need to change and I’m looking for an organized weight lifting program with way more structure. I currently weigh 222 pounds and would like to be at 10% body fat which I’d guess would place me at a weight of 180 – 190 pounds. (Below are recent pictures of me).

I am currently logging my food intake on fitday and will be sharing the log once I’ve completed my first week. Please feel free to comment – My goal right now is to reach a body fat level of 10%. From there I’d like to start bulking up as I’d like to increase the size of my shoulders and legs!

    Height: 6'2"
    Weight: 222 pounds
