    Showering Habits

I posted this thread here because i feel it will get the best response from actualy bodybuilders as opposed to if i posted it in the general chat.

Im curious as to how many of you, that go to a gym, shower after your workout. At the university gym, i would have to say 1 out of 30 shower after their workout. I think its wierd that people would rather drive home sweaty then take a shower in a public locker room.

I usally use the comunity shower so i can put two shower heads on me at once. Tonight as i was finishing up a kid came into the comunity shower wearing shorts. He only came in with me because the private showers were full (suprisingly). And no he wasnt getting ready to swim because he started to appy soap to his trunks!

    Anyways...

Do you shower after your workout?
Do you walk or drive to the gym?
Do you have to go somewhere after your workout(ex class, work, etc)?
Did you play sports in highschool, and if so which ones?
Did you shower after practice in highschool?

I agree man, i go to LA fitness and i find it pretty nasty seeing people coming out of the sauna pouring sweat and then heading straight home. I do go to school right after my workouts though, so maybe im more inclined to not stink and be all nasty.

I always shower after working out but I go on to my house.

Well me and some others all go to the Y after football lifting and it's just right down the street so we just ride with each other.

No, I usually go home after working out since it's about he last thing I do in the day after class.

I play football and run track. I'm a junior right now.

No, nobody ever showers after practice until we get home, well unless you are just covered in dirt/mud. About the only time we ever get in the shower is when we had a freezing practice and we get in and turn the hot water on.

I shower after I workout but not at the gym... I go home and do it.
I drive over right after school. Then straight home after that.
I played football but I never showered at school after practice.
I don't even sweat that much at the gym anyways.

I shower before and after my workouts sometimes even 3 times a day if I'm doing a spinning class in the afternoon.

I drive to the gym (5-10 min)
I shower at home 95% of the time, unless I am very rushed and going right out
I workout at night after work, so I go home after working out, or sometimes work out at home
I played baseball and football in high school. In football ocassionally I showered in the lockerroom, baseball, never

I asked about the sports because my theory is that the people who played contact sports, with pads, are use to showering after practice and therefore they shower at the gym.

I played basketball in highschool. I was one of three who would shower after games. Everyone else would just change there cloths and get on the bus (sometimes we had 3-4 hour road trips) If it was a home game they would go stright to the sock hops sweaty or they would drive all the way home to get a shower.

When i started to play hockey i noticed that just about everyone gets showers after practice or games. Even when i got to drop-in hockey and play with younger kids (15-18) they all get showers.

At my gym it seems like thouse who wear football shirts are more likley to shower postworkout. Im just trying to draw a correlation.

There are some things I think should be personal, and getting naked and cleaning is one of them. I won't shower in a public place.

I don't sweat that much when I work out, and if I do I don't smell. I work out after dinner every night so I don't really have any place to go after. If I did, I would probably shower first, but who knows.

Yup. Hockey (only until grade 10), waterpolo and team handball

Hockey and waterpolo yes. Team handball usually no.

There's nothing wrong with public showers. I worked out at the Y with my grandpa for about 4 years and we'd hit the steam room and then shower after every workout. It's actually a really refreshing routine

I think some people aren't as worried about being naked around others (ie. fit weight lifters) but more about having to be around other naked people.
Part of the reason people don't shower after the gym is because of the fact that old men are the ones who don't seem to care as much about letting it all out. They don't see the need to wear towels, ever, in the locker rooms. I don't have to much of a problem with it but I sure wouldn't mind them wearing a towel from the shower to the sauna or whatever. just my 2cents

Do you shower after your workout? Yes, but when I get home
Do you walk or drive to the gym? Drive
Do you have to go somewhere after your workout(ex class, work, etc)? Evenings--no, mornings--yes, work.

Showering at my gym, which is primarily a "family" gym is damn near impossible. Children, and females under age 4 are allowed in the locker room when accompanied by a parent. So, needless to say, I don't feel the need to strip down and lather up after a workout. Too busy, kinda awkward.

Showering is a personal thing anyway...Perhaps if I had a completely ripped body I'd waltz on over and shower up in the public place. But I'm not to that point yet, so until then...shower at home

I shower at home right after my workouts. It's kind of embarrassing, but I need to put some stuff in my hair (well, on my scalp really) from home to keep my dandruff under control. Nizoral + betamethasone.

Even when my dandruff is under control, I just don't really get the point unless I've got somewhere to go immediately after the workout. I like to put on fresh socks, re-apply deodorant, and the shower pressure, temperature, and cleanliness is invariably better at home.

Jeez, i can't believe the amount of people who didnt shower in h.s. after practice/games.... I played Football and basketball in H.S. and i would say that after every practice for each sport at least 90% of the team was in there...and after games 100% were in there showering...

Also we had gym class around the middle of the day, and i'd say at least half the class showered after class too...That would be gross to walk around school all sweaty all day...

But actually now that i'm away at college I dont shower after my workout at the student rec center. I just put my sweats back on and walk home and shower...Probably because it is just easier then packing fresh underwear and clothes and stuff, and i dont have my own locker here either.
