I'm currently prescribed to take muscle relaxers for some muscle strain I have in my right leg, what kind of affect if any would it have on my workouts and gains?
I've been taking them about an hour or two after i finish working out, I haven't noticed any drop in my workouts, but I wonder if it has any affect on growth and rebuilding.... anyone have any insights? any longterm affects?
I'll bump this for you..
But I wouldn't have a guess. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if it's a temporary prescription, though. I can't imagine you'll see any major effects.
I'm not sure I would workout my legs if I had any effects from a dose of a muscle relaxer in me though. I have no basis in fact for this statement, but it seems it would be counter-productive to the tension required for using that muscle. I'm not sure that would be safe.
I was wondering the same thing actually. I have some anti-inflammatories called Naproxen (sp?) and I was wondering if they would do anything to help my gains at all?
Naproxen? Naproxen Sodium?

It matters not how strait the gate how charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

you might even find you have a better lift just because so much soreness will be gone. i would say that the effects are similar to that of a higher level pain killer like an oxycontin or percacet(sp?).When i was on muscle relaxers, I didnt notice any real decrease or increase in my gains.
lol your gonna have the best sleep of your life tho,you will notice that!
CONSISTANT EFFORT is more important than any formula for success
Very interesting thread.
