Ok... i hate squats. I try to get the proper form and what not but my kness are killing me and i just hate the mofos.
On the bright side i love doing incline leg press. So i was thinking of switching to doing just 6-7 sets of decline leg press instead of 4 sets of squats and 3 of decline leg press.
What do you guys think/suggest ?
I think it's an easy way out. Learn the proper way to squat. Yes they are harder, yes they hurt more, yes they make you want to puke. Just do them and thank me/us later.

I total agree with latman, but if you can't squat with heavy weight.
you can try to do 2 light sets of squats then 2 heavy sets of Leg presses.
There is no substitute for squatting. Period.

damn it i was afraid of that.. oh well.. back to squatting it is i guess... phuk.
EMan.....I'm going to have to give up squats in all liklihood, as they are DESTROYING my knees, dont' let it get bad for you, I'm stopping before they do permanent, or even short term damage. Of course, I'm trying to find some way to do them without the knee damage, as they are a great exercise
I say a *good* leg press is just as good.
Or if you're of the 'nothing compares to free-weights' mentality get a trap-bar and do trap-bar deadlifts.
Doing an exercise because someone has proclaimed it 'the best' is just silly and often dangerous. The squat, as a movement, has some serious drawbacks(It's pretty orthopedically unsound unless you are happen to have the right proportions--short limbs and torso.)
If your form-sucks and your knees are hurting it would be very stupid to continue doing them. As long as you work hard, the leg press can produce great results.
We tend to think of Sisyphus as a tragic hero, condemned by the gods to shoulder his rock sweatily up the mountain, and again up the mountain, forever. The truth is that Sisyphus is in love with the rock. He cherishes every roughness and every ounce of it. He talks to it, sings to it. It has become the mysterious Other. He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesn’t realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.

Accipter- how do you know it is the squat doing it? What are all the other leg exercises you have been performing?

Been squattin' for 2 years now, no knee problems for me. I go all the way down, I found that half squats are harder on the knees.
Try getting knee wraps.

i agree i have had kneee problems and have been squatting for 2 years straight, going 2-3 inches below parallel
How does a decline leg press work? I've never seen one.
(I made another post before about squats killing my knees). Basically I did it by process of elimination, seeing which exercise was causin my knees to lock up for a week at a time. I figure heavy leg extensions were doing it, (they might have contributed), but by process of elimination, it's squats, without a doubt at this point. If I even do a light 5 rep set of them, my knees randomly lock up and give out for about a week afterwardsmy form is pretty much impecable as well, I'm gonna have to see if there's anyway around it, I'm thinking like 3 or 4 ultra light warm ups, see if that works. wish me luck guys!
What type of stance do you use? Try and describe your form if possible. I wish I could see you squat to help try and critique your form better.

decline leg press means you sit in this chain in the decline position.. with legs up at 45 degree angel..and put your soles on a plate what is connected to the weights.. and you move the plate forward and reverse.
kinda hard to describe..but i think this is how the basic leg press is.
