    Lasik Eye Surgery

    Anybody had it done?

I had it performed on Friday and I'm astounded by the results. I got it to fix my distance vision and an astigmatism in my right eye. My close vision has also been greatly improved.

What I want to know about are the side effects people have experienced. I know that I'll likely need reading glasses around age 45, I'm currently 31. I know some people have reported dry eyes.

Another thing is I'm feeling a little groggy and wondering if this is normal as I'm still recovering.

My prescription was low (1.5) and I only wore glasses to drive, now I'm not. My night vision also is much better. I've essentially gotten benefits that you're not even supposed to get.

    Thoughts?

I actually have 3 friends who have gotten the surgery and so far everyone has seen results. I've heard that some people that had the surgery could see perfectly but within a matter of months/years their eyes would return to the same state or even worse then before (i've yet to actually meet someone who's said that tho). As for being groggy i've never heard anything about that before but that could be a result of alot of things. Although my one friend said that one of his eyes was fuzzy for about a week before it actually cleared up.

I had it done back in June of 2003. Best money I ever spent. I experienced the same thing you're talking about. I figure it was a reaction to the constant drops and medicine I was taking. Me and my mom had it done at the same time and both had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic drops. Broke out in a major rash, stopped taking them, gone the next day. Other than my eyes dry out easier and my night vision is better, thats it.

I had it done in Dec 2002. Other than dry eyes in the immediate few days post-surgery, I have had no problems.

    I don't remember any grogginess.

My dad had it done a few months ago and said it was phenomenal. I don't know about the side effects but he hasn't told me about anything negative other than usual post surgery temporary things.

I've always thought about this surgery, but am afraid I'll be the ONE person where something goes wrong and I'll go blind or somethin.
