I was working out with 2 friends yesterday. One of them say deadlifts are the best mass building, is it true? I alwas thought squats were better but idk. So my question is which exericse is better to get bigger/stronger with?
Both of them are excellent and should be included in any serious lifter's training.

@181- 700 SQ 375 BE 535 DL.....1605 total
Best Gym Lifts(Raw)
455(w/wraps) SQ 275 BE 545 DL
both are great.. just one will emphasize better lower body development while the other will emphasize better upper body development....i.m.o.
Deadlifts = All of the back, glutes, as well as hamstrings and forearms (from gripping the bar)
Squats = Waist down, it all gets worked. Calves maybe not so much, but they work as a stabilizer.
This is just from personal experience.
Both squats and deadlifts are awesome lifts. Learn to love them both, for there is no subsitute for them.

^^ Squats work your back pretty hard too.
Both hit calves and both hit abs.
Basically, neither will get your tris or pecs. Deadlifting will get your grip and bis a little. All back and all legs are worked with both lifts, just in different proportions.
