On CNN I just read an article saying:
"If carb-loading were an Olympic competition, U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps would probably medal there too. His day starts with three cheese-tomato-onion-fried egg sandwiches, an omelet, three powdered-sugar-covered slices of French toast, a bowl of grits and three chocolate chip pancakes to top it off, according to news reports."
How does he stay freakin ripped? Sure he burns alot off, but that doesn't seem all that healthy of a breakfest. Here I've been eating chicken, fruit, lowfat milk, and oatmeal for weeks and still I'm fat. I've been terrified of buying my favorite egg sandwhich at big apple bagel, and here he is eating three in a morning!![]()

He doesn't eat garbage. He eats enough to feed his body's energy requirements.
If you ate that and swam for 5 hours a day, every day you wouldn't be fat anymore.
He eats 12000 calories a day. If I had to eat that much 'healthy' food a day, I would probably kill myself.
he juices anyways all Olympians do anyways including the 13 year old Chinese girls.

When you burn as many calories as him it doesn't matter what he puts in his body.
High caloric intake mixed with high caloric expenditure and 0.1% genetics is a hell of a thing.

Anyway, the man was built for swimming. he was born with absolutely perfect body proportions and genetics to be a great swimmer. It's been detailed over and over.
As for the diet, if you swam in a pool 5+ hours a day as hard and fast as he does you could eat almost anything and still be ripped. Because he's an endurance athlete, he needs far more carbs than the average joe athlete.

Actually, I bet he doesn't really eat garbage, he probably eats normal food just like you and me. He is human after all (so we are led to believe).
Now imagine if he ate a really clean diet.Lean pasture fed meats nuts and fruits only only all the time!?!!!!
They also said he downs a whole pizza and a pound of pasta on his own for dinner.
I say his diet has plenty of room for improvement. He is a world champ but come on... thats not fair he should have to eat to perfection and struggle a bit like the rest of us.
Since he does eat sorta $hity imagine what the rest of his potential is if he were to eat "better"

I beg to differ. Right now he is on unleaded fuel compared to the premium that he could be eating. 6000 calories of lean meats and polyunsaturated fats and another 6000 calories of fruit smoothies would be a much more potent energy source than pizza and pasta and chocolate chip pancakes. I would love to eat that much clean food.
I am jealous of the dude tho, in a good way. In the I aspire to be like him kinda way. In the I wish I were around as many fine looking athletic honeys kinda way.

Damn I am sick of you clean eating freaks. Clearly what he is doing is working. Where is the proof that if he were eating clean he would be even better. Maybe he would be worse. Stop projecting and worry about yourselves for once.

I agree 100% i just watched the guy on the olympics the guy is in great shape never looked like he touched a slice of pizza a day in his life. Lol. but if he eats all that and still is able to perform the way he does its obviously for something.The carbs im sure he needs for energy,and the rest maybe he just likes to eat Lol,but regardless, what this man is doing is obviously working
