HELP! My work is thinking about taking away our allocated $150 a year reimbursement for our gym membership in replace of building us a “Workout center” The reason this is a problem is the majority of our employees are above 50 years of age and are only asking for a few treadmills and bikes. This will save the company tons of money because from what I understand more than a third of our 400 employees use the gym reimbursement fund. So say they do, that’s almost 20,000 a year that the company pays’s out in gym memberships. What is most likely to happen is that there will allocate and small room and purchase a few bikes and treadmills, call it a day and remove the gym reimbursement policy. I have put myself in the position to be on this committee but it is very hard from them to see it “my way” My position is, if you are going to remove our reimbursement policy and replace it with said “workout center” it needs to contain everything a typical gym would. Which means it would allow the average 21 year old guy who works out with heavy weights to effectively train as well as the cardiovascular training that someone of older age would utilize. I would also like suggestions about what is the cheapest way I could present to the company to give typical weight lifters enough equipment to properly train. Stuff like dumbells, power racks, plates and the rest.
