And I'm only 18![]()
this has me really bummed out and sad.
So I got some bloodwork done 3 months ago. Results showed my test was low. So they make me drive an 80 mile round trip to some other doctor 3 months later. I get there all she does is ask me questions and takes my blood and tells me to come back in 4 months.
What in the f**ing hell?!? All this driving and co pays and I've had nothing done but needles poked in me. And I sure as hell am not waiting 4 months to get this problem fixed.
So my question is, is there any medicine/supplement I can take without a prescription to help boost my test?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Without knowing the reason for your low test, you'd just be shooting in the dark trying to take other things to fix the problem.
How low was it?

How did you find out you had low testosterone? I've been thinking I might have low testosterone but not sure.
he just said he had blood work done... which is how he found out.
To the op, 4 months is nothing. You are 18 and have a full life ahead of you, be patient.

You need to find out what your test results said and do some homework to find out how low it really is. For an 18 year old you should not have low test and really should get checked out by a well regarded endocrinologist. It may have been that your first doctor sent you to an endo with a moderately low number and the endo had a different opinion about how low it really is. The only way for you to find that out is to get a copy of your test results and ask some more questions, both from the first and second doctor that you saw. You absolutely should have these numbers available to you and inform yourself. The docs cannot withhold this info from you. You may want to try and google Testoserone Replacement Therapy and/or Hypogonadism to get some information.
Find out what the levels are specifically so you have a better reference than just "a little low".
I mean, what does "a little low" mean.
If it's just a little low for an 18yo, then that's not so bad.
If it's a little low in general, then that's not good, because an 18yo should have fairly high test levels.

I actually went through puberty really early. I've been shaving since I was in 7th grade. I actually thought I was badass cause I was one of the few kids who could grow a go-tee in middle school. Also I've always been one of the bigger stronger kids too...
The doctor office should be calling me any day now with my results.. I'll be sure to ask for specific numbers and what that number means.

is it possible something changing in your diet would throw a hormone or two off? that could account for a sudden-but-not-permanent change.
^^^^???
My test was at 188It should be around 240. This really sucks.

actually at your age is should be between 600 and 1000 ng/dl
most lab ranges state the normal level should be between 240 ng/dl and 1000ng/dl..
however the lab ranges are basically taking from paneling a small group of the population and recording the findings..how it ends up turning out on average is something like this
men 50-70 years 200-300 ng/dl
men 40-49 years 300-400 ng/dl
men 30-39 years 500-600 nd/dl
teenagers - 29 years old 600-1000 ng/dl
of course these are rough estimates and many times not fully true for everyone but often these are the "averages"
hope this helps and GOD BLESS

Something sounds a little amiss about all this.
If it came back that low on multiple tests, I would think that the doctors would inform you that a cause for the problem needs to be found.

The special doctor that I went to called yesterday. They told me one part of my test is low. And since only one part is low insurance isn't going to help pay for it. More great news.....

Read my post above again. You don't sound like somoene who has educated himself about his blood test results.
What else am I supposed to know besides that my levels are low and an 18yo should not have even remotely low levels

I've also been reading about testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and discussed it with my doctor. God I just hope it isn't expensive since insurance isnt going to help.

I believe a full panel would include a reading for total testosterone, free testosterone, IGF-1, estradiol, and DHEA. Logically speaking, I could see why your doctor may not want to do anything if your total test is low but free test is high. Free Test can go about doing its job. Most of the testosterone in the blood is bound to a protein called Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG). Free test is a meaure of the test that is not bound to SHBG. Again, I am not a doctor. Why did they check your test levels anyway? Are you having any symptoms (low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, infertility, mood swings)?

Lady from the doctors office called today and said the prescription is going to cost 240$ a month!! I said I can't afford that not even close. So I then asked about shots and how much they would cost for me to come in and get them. She said she going to look into it and give me a call. God I hate this whole situation.
