Only had 2 of our 14 Y.O.s tonight. They're good but they are 132 and 148. One handing off (132er. He's awesome) and one holding boards. Didn't feel good enough about it to force a touch and possible dump.

    60s x 20 x 3 sets

    Cable Pushdowns

    60 x 15 x 3 sets

12-28-11 Wed. Squat Night Bwt. 263 (Not feeling well all week. Sinus symptoms/achy.)

    Squats

(Older Boss 50 briefs. Christians gone to Georgia. Didn't feel like getting the new ones on without him)

    145 x 5

    235 x 3

    415 x 1

    530 x 1

    Add New Boss Suit

    600 x 1 (pretty high)

    650 x 1 (a couple of inches high)

    650 x 1 (about an inch high)

Hit the goal weight for tonight. I just felt like crap pretty much all week. Short on side spotting tonight also. Didn't force it and stay down in the hole long on the squats tonight. O.K. workout though considering...The weights went up easy enough, just didn't feel good enough to fight for the depth.

Leg Presses supersetted with Calf Presses

    1020 x 10 + 20 x 2 supersets

    Enough for the night.

We squat heavy every other Sunday if you want to join us. There is usually more people on that day than any other time. It is almost always at noon. Or I might be able to come train with you sometime.

Actually next Sunday (1/8) I plan on trying to work up to 505+500 chains on squat or as close as possible to that raw if you are interested. That is actually a real fun way to squat (last time we did chains 5 weeks ago was with 420 chain on the bar and it was fun going heavy with that). As long as Jon wants to also, as we've been training together mostly every Sunday.
    Best competition lifts:
    650lbs. raw squat
    430lbs. raw bench
    580lbs. raw deadlift
    1650lbs. raw total

1-2-12 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Bench Night Bwt. 268

I've decided to do the single ply division at the SPF Alabama Feb. 25th. I've looked at the single ply rankings and I like my chances of going to the top of the master 50+ and top 4 or so open. I tend to do about as well in single ply as multi #s wise. My best squats at meets are only 6 lbs. different from multi to single. All of my 600 benches were in single and I don't get much out of a deadlift suit either way. I'll keep working in the new Boss some to keep breaking it in and do the APF Masters Nationals in May in multiply. I may look for a raw meet to do after that and finally do WPC Worlds in Nov. in Vegas. I like trying to stay ranked high or at the top in raw, single and multiply.

    Bench Press

    Raw

    bar x 10

    135 x 8

    225 x 3

    315 x 1

    330 x 1

    345 x 1

Add 1 ply closed back super katana

    405 x 1 @ 2 boards

    500 x 1 @ 1 board

540 x 1 @ 1/2 board (Good night in the single ply for 8 weeks out!)

    shirt off

    Close grip BP

    225 x 6 @ 2 boards

    275 x 6 @ 2 boards

    315 x 6 @ 2 boards

    Light seated DB OHP

    25s x 15 x 4 sets

    Green Band Assisted Dips

    3 sets x 10

Good workout tonight. Feeling a lot better! Breathing better!!!

I perform the same with multiply and single ply as you described earlier and just thought it was me being a novice in the gear. I am actually thinking of wearing a single ply suit over my preds while competing in the mutiply category. I cannot find a suit that has as much pop out of the hole as my single ply suits. The mutiply stuff all seem to just lockup in the hole both polyester and canvas.
As far as shirts I can't find anything that works as well for me as a Katana s/s single ply. Currently saving to get a single ply Katana with the scoop neck and give that a go, or maybe you might know of someone with a used size 48 (240-244 bwt).
Nice to hear someone with like issues. Keep up the strong efforts.

Thanks! I don't know anyone right off hand that has a 48 Katana. If I hear of one I'll holler. I love how training is going in both my single and multiply stuff right now. Especially breaking in the new Boss stuff. I'll flip flop back and forth week to week til the single ply meet is done to keep progressing with the Boss. Looking forward to putting some distance on my single to multiply results this year hopefully. I think one reason my single and multiply squats have been so close is that I'm very strong in the hole. I come out fast (maybe even faster with the single ply pop), and tend to have to grind hard just before lockout...where neither suit is helping as much.

Hey April! It's the SPF Alabama in Arab Alabama. About 1 hr and 15-20 min. from Gadsden. It's Jesse's meet. Should be a good one. Last year's was.

Hey Gazzy! Most of my squats look fast or I miss! I'm real explosive out of the hole and drive hard through to lockout. If I struggle it is usually the last few inches. So, even my tougher squats usually look easier than they are.

Big session! How do you find the difference between sumo and conventional deads? I've only just started sumo and though they certainly felt different I'm not too sure exactly why, haha!

    Hey Gazzy! I've always pulled convention with a few deviations where I've tried switching to sumo. Even done a couple of meets pulling sumo. The way I'm built it's such a short pull for me I really wish I could get it working for me. I come off the floor really good sumo but have trouble finishing it at lockout when the weight gets up around 600 and up. Sumo my big thighs and trunk keep my arms and the bar too far out front as my forearms and hands are sliding up my thighs. Conventional, with my arms outside my legs;
I don't have that to deal with and finishing is more comfortable and balance is not an issue. I've tried sumo for several weeks this time but it's looking like I'll be switching back to conventional now to prep for the meet.
