well I am going to start the "starting strength" routine like many on this forum have suggested.
My only question is, for exercises such as the military press and bench...is a barbell nessasary? I do not usually have access to a spotter and I was wondering if doing standing military press with db would be just as good?
I can see the definite downfall as it would be hard to progress every workout with out a barbell...

Health goals
- Weigh a healthy and active 170-180, healthy mind and body
- Dunk a basketball (hey a man can have big dreams huh)
- Swim 2-3x/week and become a better swimmer
IF you go to a gym at your school or in your area normally someone will be willing to spot you.
Bench in a power rack. And I don't see why you would need a spotter for Military Press.
