Just close this thread - Find me someone who studies a martial art and competes after consuming 6,000 calories... your gonna puke- period. All I wanted to know is if anyone had a similar routine that worked out with training multiple arts while gaining weight and not becoming a sluggish walking target. Thank you to the people who gave honest answers and actually read my question instead of right away saying eat more. I have 4 trainers who are on me all the time - You don't think they had idea's and that we haven't tried them. This is something I was dealing with for 10 years but everyone just assumes I started lifting a weight today. If they made the rules of fighting whoever can bench more wins, than I could eat 10,000 calories a day and be in any shape and not care. If anyone knows where I am coming from please private message me. If I was interested in the style of sumo than everyones 10,000 calorie plan might work but not everyone just wants to be able to bench and hold the world record because that's all I will achieve by eating cows and a shake every hour. Thanks to those who tried to help and thanks to the rest for entertainment.

My buddy has the same problem. He's short, like 5'3" but really built and cut, he weighs 135 but can't gain weight, MMA training for a fight early next yr. It seems like a really difficult problem to solve!

You will find yourself staying up to finish a meal that you didn't even feel like eating in the first place. You will plan your day around your meals. YOu will add cheese to everything you can think of. You will hit the McDonalds and pick up 3 double cheeseburgers, and eat them, even though you just ate 2 hours ago. And you do this several times a day, day after day after day. And at the end of the week, if the scale hasn't moved, you eat even more.

This is the reason I hate hardgainers. I wish I could eat whatever the hell I wanted. LOL

I was told you got to eat and eat more to gain... I take in about 5000 calories and a ton of protein a day. It seems like alot but it easier then you think and it seems
to be working for me... gained 10lbs in a mo. made a beleiver out of me.

i feel for the guy in the sense that you can't just spit out a generic "eat more" post every 5 seconds on this board...but physiologically speaking, if you're not gaining, it's because you're burning more calories than you're taking in, end of story.

    ain't nuttin but a peanut.

You will have gotten stronger when the weight that feels heavy is actually heavier than the weight that feels heavy now. Then the weight that feels heavy now will be a warmup for the weight that feels heavy then. But the weight will always feel heavy or you're not lifting enough weight. Clear? -Rippetoe

He didn't hear the answer he apparently wanted according to his last post. He thinks we're telling him to eat 5,000 calories right before training.

Try the GOMAD (gallon of milk a day) (whole milk) in addition to you normal 3000 calories per day diet. That should do the trick.

How does one do this? I throw up often after meals, its pretty sad after I've spent about an hour trying to get it all down.

How long will this be a chore? I've been structuring my life around my meals for a month, it's tough work.
