Got myself a note book to keep track of everything and started the program today! I must say it looks basic but it is no joke. I like it already. I have one question so far. Is it better/safer to do the overhead press standing or sitting?
Edit- this needs moved to Bodybuilding & Weight Lifting

Do it standing like the book says to.
Do standing. The whole purpose of the exercises listed is to build strength (size, too) for all of the muscles, including all the support muscles. If you do seated OHP, then you're not using those support muscles - like benching on a machine instead of free weights. The balance you have to have is what builds those support muscles.
Give chalk a chance.

Elmx479,
If you are doing rippetoe's starting strength program and have questions I would suggest checking out the forums over at bodybuilding.com[/url] as well. Under the "Workout Programs" section they have a whole section dedicated to answering questions like yours that you might find beneficial. I believe they made it a sticky.
