Today I did my first full powerlifting meet today, the APF/AAPF in Peoria AZ. I squatted 475 ( deep enough for the bar to touch the bottom of the chains ), I benched a too easy 325 raw ( kind of kicking myself for not trying more ), and pulled 525. All in all I'm pretty happy with how my lifts went.
Well done BTO! Looks like you popped that cherry with some nice lifts!!!!! congrats![]()

Crap, I just tried to upload a video of my squat, but I'm not at home and apparently the connection I have sucks. Anyway, 90% of the video was of them raising the monolift to the top -1, lol. I guess I'll have to wait until I get home to post it.
Thanks. Oh, I'm totally hooked. After today, I can really see a 600 pound deadlift ( a goal of mine ) in the near future.

Congrats on the great lifts. I can't wait to see the video. What were your attempts? We will have to have a little race to 600 in the dead lift. Congrats again, see you next week.
Congrats on your first meet !
Well done!!!

Thanks Mike. My attempts were
Squat 385, 445, 475
Bench 285, 315, 325
Dead 445, 500, 525
I got 3 white lights on all 9 lifts, ie I'm way too conservative. I lowered my bench opener because after squatting my shoulder wasn't feeling 100%, but I didn't notice it when benching. The 315 went up really really easy, but I was still slightly concerned about my shoulder not feeling quite right so I only thought I should go up 10 more pounds for the 3rd, but the 325 went up like nothing too. I probably could have benched 340 today. Same with the 525 deadlift, it went up pretty easy ( way easier then when I last did it in the gym ). The 475 squat didn't go up easy but was solid, but I was way below parallel. I think once I KNOW where parallel is my squat will go up 50 pounds without doing anything else.
It definitely puts a different spin on things basically doing 3 max effort exercises in one day.
Cool, sounds great. We need to start training deadlifts together.

Nice work BTO and congratulations. That was nice depth on the squat - and I do think you should get extra credit for "distance traveled". I really appreciate seeing people get deep on the squats. I remember being concerned with how one of my shoulders felt after the squats as well but just like yours - I didn't feel it at all benching.
Good work man - it is cool to watch your progress.
Great job, man! Haha, it's hilarious that the first minute of a 1:20 video features someone jacking the monolift up so high!
Great job and awesome squat! God I would die if I had to travel down that far. Sometimes it pays being so dam short.![]()

Hey WTG! Thats awesome!
Run? Are you crazy? I wouln't even run for the dinner bell! I don't remember seeing running as a part of Push/Pull.
Great job on the squat depth. Looked really easy too. It looked like the guy cranking the monolift up was working pretty hard though![]()
Great job, man. You have any more videos for us?![]()

Congratulations Ox. Nicely done!
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook
