How far apart should your squat max and deadlift maxes be? Is there a standard for this? And what if there is a significant difference and what would be considered a significant difference?
I think a lot of this will depend on how much gear you use in the squat, and also of course if you have longer arms your deadlift should be closer to your squat than a person with short arms. Maybe we should have people post with what gear they use for each lift and what their #'s are to get a good idea.
If there is a "significant" difference I suppose weak points to consider would likely include grip, and if you pull sumo I think glute strength would play a big role, while conventional pulling quads and low back could be a big factor.
My Squat gear includes Metal Ace Briefs and an Inzer Leviathan Suit. In full gear my best squat in the gym is 775 and in a meet 760.5. In just the Ace briefs I've squatted 735, and raw I've squatted 555.
For deadlift I pull sumo and use my Leviathan with no briefs underneath. My best pull is 562, and raw I've pulled 500. I definitely have short arms and grip is a definite factor in my pull.
So raw there is only about a 55 lb difference in my squat and deadlift, but geared up about a 200 lb difference. It's possible that if I bring my grip strength up these would be closer together. Hopefully this gives you some helpful information.

Yeah, there are many factors.
Someone short and stocky may not have the genetics for pulling, however, guys with stocky builds usually have good squats and benches.
Someone with longer arms will usually have a better pull because the bar doesn't have to travel as far.
Different leverages, different muscle weaknesses, form also plays a huge role.
