How many of you guys do these? I just started doing them this week and I got to say I like em'!
I used monster-mini's attached to top of the power rack... Went fairly light since I'm new to these(275) But man they felt good!
Almost like benching in a shirt w/o having to gear-up!
How do you guys incorporate them into your bench days? I know they're good for lock-out strength, but beyond that could I do them as a ME exercise or are they better for accessory work?
Thx.
RC
They are definitely a part of our training. You can do them as a Max effort. We never done them with monster minis, we usually use the green bands. Last time we did reverse bands, we threw in some boards.

We do them, probably on average once every 3 weeks or so. But usually they deload completely half way up my stroke ( since it's like 3 times longer than everybody ), so I'm not sure how effective they really are for me. ( Personally, they don't feel like benching in a shirt to me, but others I know have made that comment. )

Hi Rob, I have done them on and off both raw and shirted.
I really like em, they feel good and get real hard at lock-out.
I like to use green bands and set up with the bands doing zero at the top and deloading 100 at chest (use top pin instead of top of rack).
I also like how they feel safe.

We use them as a ME movement.
We do them with and without shirts. I personally have only done them raw, but I just haven't been in the shirt much period. They are a great exercise for most people. Really tall people will benefit less.
edit - we almost always do them to boards

Injured.
Love the reverse band with 2 boards. I rotate reverse band with board presses and reverse band board pressing and all that stuff as part of my ME.
i love reverse bands. i prefer to use the average or strong bands- but sometimes even use light bands :-). bands are awesome!!
I love doing them. Perfect raw movement to increase shirted benching

That's interesting, I just got done deciding I like minis on reverse band bench better than the heavier bands. But my raw bench is around 300, so maybe a bunch of you are just moving more weight and need more lift. Or maybe...we just like different things.
Not to get too tangential, but I have recently been scaling back all my bands, even down to minis+monster minis on squat! At least for ME day. Maybe I'll come back around, but right now less band is helping me break PR's more than heavy bands.
That's interesting I just increased my bands. 435 today using green bands with the 2 board, was pretty easy except I hit the rack near lock out, still managed to press it out which was surprising cause it felt ridiculously heavy. I was using the purple light average bands before and I like the green ones a lot more cause it feels a lot heavier at lock out and I'm hoping that extra weight at top will help the good ol CNS.
That's cool going lighter with the bands is helping you, whatever helps you make progress I suppose.
total waste of time

Thanks for the input guys... I think I'll try the green bands next time since they deload more @ the chest level (75lbs. vs 40lbs.)
Good training... Hoo Rahh!
