We're having a little challenge with some of the guys keeping a log here; namely Flynn, Mattburns, Brihead and anyone that feels like entering it. We're all pretty much in the same ballpark strength wise, I'd say somewhere around 1200-1350 raw. We'll go for it the last week of November and lifts must preferably be recorded on video.
PS: Word on the street is that Chris Mason is offering a sponsorship to the winner*
*That is of course not true![]()

When I get done rehabbing my hamstring, I am definitely in...only if I have a chance at the sponsorship though![]()
Most people pray for a lighter load in life...ever thought of praying for a stronger back?
Goals as of 2/08/11 (current) goal:
Squat: (505) 535, Deadlift: (475) 500, Bench: (325) 350 Total: 1305 (1385)

I'm lucky if I'm even at a 1000 lb. total, but I'll still get in this.

If it's last week of November I could get in on this. I'm probably around a 1310-1330 raw total.
What are the rules? Belts, knee wraps, wrist wraps allowed? Powerlifting rules, I assume?

Me too. I'm right around that 1200 number. I've never used knee wraps though, maybe I'll give them a try.
If not a sponsorship, how about we at least weasel/beg for a t-shirt?
haha

I will be in the 181 class, hoping for 1200+
Nice to see so many people having interest in it. Lones are you in ? I've watched your log occasionally and you're putting up good numbers that'd be nice to get you entering.

I think I will test my maxes with you guys too since I just started my training for an unequipped meet(just belt and wraps). It'll be good to see where I am at anyway.
I know you said you aren't a form nazi, but will you guys be pausing your benches here or just touch and go?

I am competeing in an unequipped meet on Dec 5th so I will be working up to my openers the week ending Nov 28th. I will use those.
This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy - George Bernard Shaw
I did a max on bench last night and hit 265 (used wrist wraps). Failed twice at 275 - once because I didn't maintain tightness and once due to lack of leg drive. Really, I just need to get stronger. I've hit 305 at a BW of 190, but now that I've slimmed down to 175 my bench has suffered. I'm old and short... 43 at 5' 6". I'm coming back from an injury - got bucked off a horse and tore up my bicipital tendon. Right now, on a bad day, I can hit 265 bench, 405 squat, and 385 deadlift. That'll give me a 1055 total - knee & wrist wraps + belt. I gotta a lot of work ahead me!![]()
I would like to try out. My 1st real meet is Nov8th can I use the videos from that to enter? Good luck and lift strong everyone!

Can we do this in weight classes and not just all for nothing??? Make it a virtual meet.
We can use a straight Wilks coefficient and not worry about weight classes... Of course, everyone would have to be honest about their bodyweight.
you guys are all stronger than me but ill get in on this

Hey, if you can handle the oprganisation of the competition, we'll definately stump up some prizes for the winners....
I would think it would be a good ideal to nail down the weight classes and people entering by a set date (probably worthwhile having a deadline) and then we know who we're following over the next 6-8 weeks.
Also, drum up a few rules so everyone knows whats expected.
If someone can do that, you'll be happy with our prizes![]()

Can I have some lean muscle & strength please? – My Training Journal
Here's what we can do:
- set up 2 or 3 weight classes ( LW & HW or LW; MW & HW)
- get the deadline to Sunday midnight
- get a list of everyone entering it with their BW, best lifts and a link to their training logs if they got one
- ask a couple of pros to volunteer to review the lifts recorded and eventually take a decision if the lift seems illegal (ie a mile high, crazy rebound off the chest, hitching etc...) nothing to drastic but just enough to keep it fair.
- as for the rules I'd say no pause on the chest but if the majority of the lifters entering want one we can do it no problem.
Everybody let me know what you think of the above and if Im missing something and start posting your stats so I can compile it to get something clean and readable.
