Thanks Chris. I know the gloves are a no no, but until I find chalk locally I will have to use them because I lift in the back patio/florida room and there is no AC and I sweat like a whore in church.
The weather is starting to cool of today, so the weather will be finally droping out of the 90s and the lows will be in the 50s-60s.

Nice pic.
Something I used to do to fight the sweat was to wrap a strip of paper towel around the bar where i'd grab it. It absorbed the sweat, and by the end of my sets was completely shredded.
Might work for you, might not, either way I agree that gloves are bad news. Keep up the good work though, maybe keep a training log here so people can follow your progress in the journal section.

Thanks, I may try the paper towel trick. I will have to start a log. I have been doing a single day workout... whole body every workout. I am trying to figure out what it is I'm trying to accomplish and how it will affect my other sport interests. I know what exercises I want to do before I step into the "gym" and what order I want to do them, but just trying to figure out if I want to start splitting my workout into a 2 day rotation and how to do it. Whatever I do I have to schedule it with my cycling and still have recovery days.
OH NO I wear gloves. I never heard not to. Why are they bad?

There is an explanation in SS, I will read over it and try to post what Rip says here....I'm pretty sure there's a better reason than showing you're not a *****, but no guarantees with Rip.
So tell me. Why no gloves?

Gloves increase the width that your hands are going to have to grip. They also increase the amount of slip and roll that the bar will do while you are pulling. This isn't a good thing and limits your potential as you move up in the deadlift. Some people have other opinions on their appearance as well.
