    Protein/Carbs/Fats ratio???

How much protein per lb should I take in? Same with carbs, and fats...

    I don't think i'm getting enough carbs...

What's the P/C/F ratio on oatmeal, rice, and wheat bread? How many calories do they have?

you will gain weight on that diet.

as for the ratio - why does it matter what it is? total are more important than a ratio.

I've always been told the ratio matters..... If I ate 20 grams of carbs, 700 grams of fat, and 50 grams of protein that wouldn't be good.....

I don't want to become a fatass, I want to gain muscke

its not the ratio that make you fat.

its the total you are eating. i have not worked out any of the ratios. i know that above diet would make you fat.

mainly as it has over 6,000 kcals in it.

you will not gain muscle as it lacks proytien. not because there is a low ratio of protien.

It looks good ratio wise Tru.

Body, if you want to gain muscle than the ratios do matter. If you just want to gain nothing but fat than they do not.

If you eat 400cals of fat you will gain nothing but fat if you eat the proper ratios than your body will feed your muscles properly with all the stuff it needs. You need a certain amount of protein and a certain amount of carbs to gain weight the right way.

If I am wrong than someone please correct me, but from what I have learned from this board and many other boards as well as many articles posted people this is so.

the ratio does not matter, the totals of each macronutritent matter.

your body does not know the difference between a 30/30/40 or 20/50/30 split.

as long as you give it enough protien for growth,
    carbs for energy
    and fat for hormones production.
(wells it more complicated than that).

what ever the ratio of that equation is, it does not matter.

if dieitng you may do 50% prot
    30 % carbs
    20 % fat

    you will not loose
on a 2,000 kcals that would equal
    prot=250 grams
    150 grams carbs
    45 grams fat.

I would loose wieght as its kcal deficiet.
if i ate 5,000 kcal on that ratio i would get fat.

thats why the ratio does not matter. the macro totals do.

Body, what are you talking about the diet above?

My diet doesn't have 6,000 calories in it...
    It has what I said......

I think you might be confused...

i think you find this example you gave has over 6,000 kclas in it.

I know your not eating it and you gave a example. i said why i disagreed with the ratio. as i did not work out the ratios for it. i just looked at the total macro intake.

i could have been clearer and quoted your comments.

I am not confused at all.

The macros you listed come out to 4,605kcal.
    It is approx:
    34% fat
    41% carbs
    25% protein

Personally, I would lower the fat and protein a bit, and increase your carbs, but fundamentally I see nothing wrong here. It seems a bit high, calorie-wise given your weight is only 165, but if you are gaining weight at a moderate pace(Say 1-2lbs a week), it's fine. Personally, I think something like:
    700g carbs
    200g protein
    120g fat
would be better, but diet is a very individual thing, so this may not be ideal for you.

as B&I say you will gain weight, but probably some fat as well.

the amount of fat you gian will dpend on your metabolism.
if you do not gian any lean mass on that diet,
    a) you have pis* poor intestine abosrption.
    b) you are over trianing
    c) under sleeping
    D) drinking, tkaing the wrong kind of drugs.
    E) really poor genetics.

or a combination of the above.

if you start gianing to much fat, lower the kcals by say 500 kcal and give it a month or two. if still gianing to much fat. repeat a 5,00 kcal drop agian.

    Ok, so.....
    3949/173/470/292
    That ratio isn't good?

Too many calories, not enough protein, too much fat, too many carbs, or what?
