Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

That is ridiculous. I am very jealous.

I also noticed your stance is goofy compared to most--hands are very wide. How did you start deadlifting this way?

I actually don't think I normally stand that wide, normally I am narrower, but I guess today when I set my feet I was just a shade wider and my grip always varies where it ends up on the bar based on where my hands end up when I bring them down from over my head.

I can't say when I started, but I'm sure you could look at some other videos of me and I would be in a completely different position. If you look at spdcheese videos on youtube you can probably see that my deadlift stance varies from video to video (I can't right now I'm at work and they block youtube)

    Sick pull man!

It's crazy to think that you are Jay's "little" brother. I met Jay in 2002 at the first meet I ever did which was an unsanctioned one run by Pastor Pete at your Church. He was a tiny little kid then and to think that his little bro is pulling ~700 now is freakin crazy!

    I'm actually his older brother

My first meet was I think the church meet in 2005 when Gary and Jay convinced me to do it after I pulled 500 for the first time a couple days earlier.

Ended up pulling 510 in the meet, which was just about the last time I ever pulled a max effort lift sumo.

Either way, lol. Still, you are younger than me and a total beast! You got started later than him with lifting though right?
