i never did my "5" part of this cycle on squat and deadlift like i said i was going to at the end of last week. and this is the first time i could get to the gym this week... so i did my "5" squat and my "5" dead tonight together, hit the "3" bench tomorrow, and get back on saturday and combine my "3" squat and "3" dead. that will catch me up and put me where i should be.

gonna have to stretch/foam roll like crazy to have my legs ready for saturdays combination. i have a feeling they are going to be extremely sore the next couple days. i feel like i have been run over by a train.
BY THE WAY, im getting tired of my gym. not the gym itself or anything that happens within. actually i love this gym, but the hours are terrible. the way the hours are, and my work schedule make it very difficult for me to get 3 sessions in per week, let alone 4 like i would like. alot of weeks im fortunate to get 2. so, DJ, where is that you are going now? still at urban active? know of any cheap 24 hour gyms here in town?

Good work in the gym man. I'm out at fitness factory now. It's off of breckenridge ln. Legit gym, lots of good equipment. If you pay for a year up front it's like $169, no contract. http://www.fitnessfactorylouisville.com/ it's not 24 hours though, not sure of any gyms that are.

thanks dj. a friend of mine works out by fitness factory and i asked him to check it out. from what both of you are saying it seems like a great place. he and i are going to get out there on saturday and potentially start coming there. its kind of far from where i live but it seems like it will be worth it. the guy working there said there was a sanctioned powerlifting meet going on saturday too so ill check that out while im there. how is it though as far as crowds? is it difficult to get in and get your work done?
oh and i thought urban active was 24 hours..? i was pretty sure the one out on preston was, but i could be wrong.

Preston urban active is 24 hours, mon-thurs, forgot that. Fitness factory is never that crowded, I can usually get in to any machine, bench or rack at any time. Yeah, meet is going on this saturday, i'll be trying to stop by after work, probably around 3:30 or so.

last saturday i started feeling sick, by monday i was feeling awful. went to the doc and was told i had another really bad sinus infection. just like last year... and the year before that. got some meds and rested to get myself better. so last week i didnt get to the gym at all. started back today and hit it hard. i decided to just re-do the cycle on my squats and deads since i had not completed it anyway. but i did adjust my bench +5 lbs.

went to a different gym tonight. i just felt off the whole time. when i went for the 210, i got it twice and knew when i came down for rep #3 that it wasnt going to go back up. so i dumped it (i bench in the rack). this pissed me off so bad. i didnt get why it seemed so difficult. so i switched out the flat bench i was using for a different one and tried the 210 again. got 5 of the ugliest reps youve ever seen.

smoked those 2 reps of 290, could have probably grinded it out to 3-5. oh well, they flew up no problem so at least im making progress. got started later in the week, gotta buckle down to get my bench and squat in.

for various reasons i have switched off of 5/3/1. i am now following the westside for skinny bastards routine and hope to stick to it and get stronger.
missed my ME upper day so today was DE lower.
8 x 3 box squat to box jump - about 35 inches. never done anything like that in my life. could definitely go a little higher.
3 x 10 - bulgarian split front leg elevated squats holding two 15 lb DB's. these are hard as hell. by that i mean its hard as hell to keep my balance. just did 5 reps per leg for each set equaling ten total.
3 x 10 - 135 lbs - romanian deadlifts
3 sets of various lbs and various reps of seated abdominal pulldowns. stomach started to feel like it was going to cramp.
it was a lot of fun, feels like a good workout, looking forward to the rest of the week.
