I need to be able to run 3miles in under 24 minutes in my Physical Fitness testing for the Marine Corps and so I am on a 5k training routine.
Running is not my forte unfortunately.
About 30 minutes a day during my lunch break. The goal is defnately fat loss.

I voted 20-30 minutes cause that is prob average. I do 6-8 minutes before my SS workout MWF and about 5 minutes of cooldown after I lift. I have just recently restarted doing around 40 minutes on my non-lift days. I know this will cost me some gains on my lifts however I have built an OK base of strength and want to get thinner. I am still a fat cow. Also I am hoping that an increase in cardio capicity will help me to recover my breath between work sets (Between my second and third sets of squats it prob takes 6 minutes or so to catch my breath,I usually can't wait that long to lift again).

I've been trying to get in 20-30 minutes at least 4-6 times a week. Being almost 300 lbs. I feel like it helps me stay healthy, but it's not so much it detracts from my strength. Overall I think it does make me feel a little better and perhaps helps recovery some as well.
20-30 2-3 x's per week. Overall health and recovery more than anything else.

I get about 30min a day.
I cycle everywhere and I live about a 15min bike ride from university/gym. I hate the hill in the middle of the route with a passion but I have noticed an increase in recovery from doing it regularly. At first I thought it would harm my progress because on days after leg training my legs are burning so bad by the time I reach the top, but the DOMS definitely clears up quicker afterwards.
Sometime I'll be keen and do a 40min run about once a week. But that's rare at the moment - still bulking!
I strive for 30 minutes a day 4 days a week, I guess you could say its for GPP, but a healthy cardiovascular system is pretty awesome IMO. I don't have a history of heart disease or cholesterol problems in my family so I probably don't even need to consider it for the health benefits in that respect but I would love to have endurance on top of strength. Plus if I ever do a strongman competition like I plan to I'm sure a strong heart can only help.

About 30 mins 3x per week for health and fat loss. I was against cardio perhaps for ego (like many guys at the gym) but when I saw a powerlifter on TV doing jogging and then lifting an insane amount of weight I listened to him.
I was surprised the guys at the strongest man do not meet the "fat powerlfiter image" that many seem to think a powerlifter should look like.
Right now, I only do cardio on Saturdays, playing basketball for 2-4 hours. I'm probably going to start on Wednesday evenings for 30 minutes or so.
Give chalk a chance.
