(I know I've made a lot of threads in the past week or so, hopefully this will be my last for a while, thanks everyone!)
I've been told to not worry so much about all these little details, but before I go all out I'd like to know if there is one king of rows exercise, which is it? I suppose I'd prefer something using a barbell. I've never seemed to like the variations of Rows I've done before (one-armed DB, bent-over BB, even Cable Rows lol). I've not tried T-Bar Rows or Pendlay Rows (don't know much about these).
Which Row is the Back Squat of Legs? If there is such?
Thanks.

I would mix it up.
Train your rows more like a body builder like sets of 6-30 on more than one movement, so many to choose from and all hit the back a little different.

I like DB Rows.... do whatever you want though man
I'm going against the others on this one... If I'm not mistaken, you decided to do a routine like Starting Strength. Linear progression is the key to that abbreviated routine, so sticking with one movement for the course of the cycle seems to make more sense. Also, since you'll be working up to significant poundage, I'd pick a lift where you can maintain good form throughout.

Try deloading the weight after ever rep if you haven't already.
I do both DB Rows and Barbell Rows. I do them both for 5 sets of 5 and try to get a rep or two in the tank on the last set. Standing barbell rows can be a little tough on the lower back.

I like bent over barbell rows. You can lift a *****-ton of weight, and I feel it helps other movement as well...specifcally deads. Plus...if you put on too much weight you can still lift it, but basically turn it into a power shrug instead. Yeah..I know.... form, blah blah.

I constantly mix up my rowing movements and hand position. The only type of row I don't do is DB, due to dumbells not going high enough in weight. 5x5, 4x8s, all depends on what I feel like.

Pendlay Rows are my staple. I do others from time to time but Pendlay Rows are my standard.

I rarely do heavy barbell rows as they put stress on my lower back and it gets beat up enough for my compound lifts. I perform regularly...
-DB rows
-seated row
-lat pulldown
-chest supported row

hey, question, i've heard a lot of the smart folks on this board say they DB Row to the waist (not chest).
This is how I row, except my supporting arm is more under my shoulder and upper body is a little bit upright, not parallel to ground

but the rowing motion to the chest is how i do it.
anyways, can i ask why you guys row to the waist? is there anything wrong with the way I do it?
also, do you do more or less weight when rowing to the waist?
