I totally would have dropped the $10. I use to use the university gym, but it closed at 8pm and didn't open during the summer until 12pm.

I have a membership for $10 a month and don't have to deal with ridiculous shit, it's so worth it.

Called up my old gym and left a message with one of their sales associates to see if I can restart my membership up again. I told him that I wasn't interested in paying an enrollment fee, but if we can work something out that I would sign up as early as tomorrow.

I briefly looked at another club in the area, but it just didn't look like it was for me. The club I'll be going back to has DBs up to 180s, good amount of HS equipment, hack squat, leg press, two squat racks, etc. etc. Will be nice to get back there. I can also DL and **** without people giving me a hassle.

Here's an old vid I took of the place. The weight center is lodged in the basement, away from everyone else. Very nice.

also, i've figured out a way to mimic chipotle burritos at home pretty easily. found a recipe online that was spot on for the most part.

This will make it MUCH easier and CHEAPER to get my calories in. I love chicken bc it's cheap and has a good amount of protein, but grilling everyday is a PITA, and grilled chicken that's been sitting in the fridge tastes like shit IMO.

Now, I will be able to stovetop that shit and save it for later. Should save me a good amount of coin.

we have a gold around here also, and it's like 20 to join, but they just don't have the equipment the other place does. They are also packed like crazy most of the time.

Lack of heavy DBs is usually the dealbreaker for me. I was pleasantly surprised when my gym back home purchased DBs up to 140s, bought a monolift, a forza bench, and a shitton more plates.

I think anything precooked that's been refrigerated tastes like shit. I don't know how people cook for the whole week in one day.

Yea, most fridged stuff tastes like shit

did not train today. by the time my meeting was over, I was only able to go to the faggy fitness center. Instead of training there, I decided to wait it out, and try and get signed up tomorrow at the new gym. This puts me in a good position schedule-wise, as I will be set up to train m/t and th/f, which is my preferred schedule.

    Small update

No training. Been crazy busy. Was going to go in this morning at 5 am, but i finished my paper at 2 am, and that just wasn't going to be enough sleep.

I ended up joining my old commercial gym again. The new "gym" at my school is going to be a sad piece of shit. I've included a floor plan below. That leg press will be a cable-stack type, so completely worthless. Very upset, and plan on writing a scathing email when I'm done with finals about this bullshit.

If I was an incoming freshman and saw that they didn't have a proper weight room, I would not have come to this school. This is Iowa. All you can do here is drink and lift weights. It's too cold, too flat, and too landlocked to do anything else.

    Whoa, that looks terrible!

Not sure if they care to even cater to the true lifters by any margin.

You go to a small profile school, thus you are going to have a small profile weightroom. Bigger schools give a damn about things like that.

    Where do you go again?

small[er] school in Iowa. we still have like 3200 undergrad students however. That's two shitty facilities for 3200 students. Ridiculous.

    Upper A 5/3

Night session. Alarm didn't go off this morning.

    DB Rows
    145# x 9 (+1R)
    145# x 9

    Flat DB Press
    90s x 9
    100s x 5
-These are the Ivanko DBs that are weighted/balanced differently than pretty much any other DB I've used. I expected some regression here. 100s to start next time.

    Seated Lateral Raises
    35s x 10 (+2R)
    35s x 10

    CGBP
    175# x 9
    175# x 7
    155# x 7
-different bar, different weights, etc. Just a different feel all around.

    Close Grip Chins
    45# x 6
-tired, and annoyed with the swinging weight hitting the wall.

    Neutral Pulldown
    180# x 8
    165# x 9
-Adjusted my form slightly. Used to always bring the handle to my chest. Now, I'm getting the hande's top below my chin, similar to a chinup. REALLY fried my lats. Was very surprised at the difference.

Legs tomorrow. Thinking squats, possibly hacks instead.

Do the DBs weigh more or something? Why is it a 3+ rep difference?

    You'd have to try them.

Ivanko dumbbells are the stacked-plate type of Dumbbell instead of the cast molded or rubberized ones. The dumbbells just have a different feel from any other dumbbell. I dunno if they are heavier than normal, but the balance is definitely different.

Because of the plates, jumps of 10# can feel really weird at first because they may have added a 7.5# plate on the end, which makes the shape of the dumbbell a bit different each time.

I have used them before...they felt the same to me. I bet they are just heavier. Weigh them next time you go there.
