'Rag on the Mags' is our brand new feature in which we will to review the current crop of Muscle and Powerlifting publications as they come out each month, before they hit the newsstands.
The basic idea here is that we will present you with the CliffsNotes® of the pertinent info, allowing you to determine if it’s worthwhile for you to run a comb through your hair, head into civilization, and plunk down roughly six-bucks for the issue.
So, without further ado, here is the Aug 2010 issue of NB&F!

"When you promise yourself something, make a commitment, you can't give up. Because, when you're in the gym, you have to fulfill the promise you made to yourself. The people who can self motivate - in any field - are usually the ones who win. Regardless of talent." T. Platz
If anyone wants to check out another natural bodybuilding magazine I would recommend Natural Muscle Magazine.
I have been in the magazine in the past and Debbie (Owner/Editor) does a great job of managing the ratio of content to advertising. She also provides a good variety of information covering powerlifting, bodybuilding, healthy eating, interviews with athletes, supplements, and general wellness.
The magazine is free and can be found at many Vitamin Shoppe locations and gyms (http://www.naturalmuscle.net/)

People make a big deal of content to advertising ratio... personally, I don't care about that. Lots of ads means a well-run, successful magazine that will stay in business long enough for me to bother getting a subscription, as long as that content is good.
NB&F aren't new at this. It's time they stepped it up. You need either professionalism/talent or passion to bring off a good look and interesting articles in a mag; and passion will advance that "professionalism/talent" learning curve towards a polished publication. Natural Muscle looks as though it may have that. Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness needs to make that leap. The writers that craft good articles are not being honored by what is in the rest of the issue.
