For example if I have bench press one day and chest flies on my other upper body day, if my bench starts suffering would it be a good idea to drop the flies?
What do you do when your lifts start getting hard or you start to miss reps during a cut? (e.g. lower weigh, change reps, swap exercises, etc)
While cutting fat, it can be helpful to limit your training to just the major lifts. Your recovery will be limited and the extra rest can be helpful in maintaining strength on those big lifts. If you do too much, you are likely to lose muscle at a greater rate due to overtraining and lack of nutrition. Keep the overall volume low and the intensity high.

I agree. I just did 5/3/1 for 5 cycles during a cut through the summer. It's the first time I've tried it and it's the perfect program to be on during a cut. You get to bust your ass on the main 4 lifts and even possibly get your numbers to go up a little while cutting, and there is minimal accessory work so you shouldn't get burnt out or overtrained.
