Not to mention fully recover and get at the desired weight you want to compete at. I hear you on the heat too, it was boiling in my gym today. After the first half hour (531 squats), I was drenched.

Cheers, Brian!
Have entered the UK National Open Champs for my Fed (BPO).
It's in september, giving me a little over 3 months to prepare, a much better timescale.
Some vague goals I have in mind.
Squats - 170-180kg(374-396lbs) Current = 160kg(352lbs) x1
Bench - 110-120kg(242-264lbs) Current = 95kg(209lbs) x3
Deadlift - 200-210kg(440-462lbs) Current = 190kg(418lbs) x1
Don't know if it's realistic to attain these goals in 3 months of training, but it can't hurt to try.
For a moment I thought you meant you were squatting 531lbs - I was like 'have I been in a coma and missed a year of training, lol?"

Summary:
Gym partner didn't turn up again for the third time this week, haha, so was training on my own again.
Was too hot in the gym today, way too hot. The gym is on the top floor of a building and has big glass windows all round, acts as a suntrap and there's no air-con to speak of. Would be surprised if it wasn't nudging 30degrees C (90ish for you American types).
Was struggling to grip the bar on BBBs due to sweat, even after chalking up, so called it at three sets. Hey, it is deload week.
On a side note, have upped protein intake again, shakes three times on a training day - breakfast, straight after training, then take one to bed.

Haha, I know it doesn't sound much, but you need to experience British heat to get the feel for it. I have family who live in the south of France and they get temperatures of 45-50deg every summer without fail, but I can cope with theirs as it's simply burning sunshine.
Whereas here in England it's just pure, sweltering, humid, muggy, horrible, sticky, sweat-ya-bollocks off misery. Well, when you're trying to do anything it is, anyway. If you're just chilling in the garden with your pipe and a cuppa it's fine.
And yeah, not been his best showing this week, haha. It doesn't quite take the same priority for him as it does for me; he overslept Monday, had a work meeting Weds and didn't come in today cos his mum was cleaning the bathroom first thing in the morning and he couldn't do his morning oblutions.

Good luck with those goals, applaud you entering and getting ready for the upcoming meet!
I understand about training in the heat. Today was pretty killer in the garage, lol.
Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.

Hate training in the heat, coming into winter down in NZ so no problems like that at present!! Yeah it is hard to find a partner who takes it as seriously as yourself. Never mind mate, knuckle down an keep doing what your doing. Get the rewards and you will be happy.

Thanks, Coke!
It is crazy, just zaps you.
Thanks Hayden.
Cheers Jay - yeah, I'm hoping these goals will come around, if I'm consistent.
Also, I signed up for BPO simply because they originally had more comps on the calendar than the others that I could see.
My cousin, however, lifts with the BDFPA, so I may lift with them eventually. Name's Chris Pengelly; if you've been to a BDFPA meet in the last coupla years, you'd prob have seen him lol

Summary:
Great session, felt pumped after, good first day back after deload.
125kg was a nothing weight, but the heat was making it so easy to run out of breath.
BBB was an absolute killer. Half tempted to jack it in on the third set, but toughed it out. Glad I did, as I hear it's the BBB sets that gain you the crazy strength.
SLDLs - FAR better than the leg curls, much more enjoyable. Had a twinge in my right knee, so I'll have to play around with stances a little, but other than that, really good. As well as working legs, I foresee that it'll help my lower back strength AND it'll obviously do nothing but good for my deadlifts too.
All in all, a good day.
On a sidenote, when we got there there was an Irish guy in the Squat rack attempting a new PR of 215kg, with the gym owner spotting for him.
He wasn't a big guy by any means and the 215kg looked WAY beyond him; he struggled even to unrack it and I thought he'd fall over as he got himself into position. He made two shaky attempts, dumping it at the bottom both times.
Out of interest, I asked him how many reps he thinks he could get at 180kg (as that's my next goal). He said he may be able to get 2, possibly 3.
My thinking is, if you're at the point where you're squatting 215kg, 180kg should be a reasonably easy weight, surely? My cousin 1RMs at 220-225kg(495), yet squats 200kg(440) for 8 reps.
I suppose everyone's built differently, but it just looked to me like biting off WAY more than he could chew. Granted, this guy was obviously far stronger than I am, so really I should be in no position to comment, but thanks to this board at least I've learned some restraint and the ability to pace myself, which I think will stand me in good stead in the long run, something this guy lacked.

Deffo gonna keep them in! Felt great!
Not too sore, no, but mega lower back pump - makes it interesting walking back to the car, lol!
Gonna test maxes at the end of heavy week in two weeks' time.
Would like ~100kg bench, ~165-170kg squat and TWO HUNDRED dead, lol. Been after that bitch for ages.
