Today's Cardio:
4.5mile run. 53mins 6secs.
Shocked myself about halfway round when I realised that I was not struggling for breath AT ALL.
Big difference from only a few weeks ago.

Good deal on the improved conditioning and endurance.
Upping the calories sounds like a good plan to me bro. Got to fuel the machine when your pushing it like you are

First day back after a whole week off. Was my birthday party last weekend and my wife's sister's wedding weekend just gone. Along with starting a new college course, was a busy week, haha!
Weight felt heavy today, as it would after a week of not lifting!
Session done now, though, and looking forward to the next!

Session is solid, liking the fact that you are taking classes.
Hip thrusts, is that a new move for you?? How do you like'em?
edit: Just looked back through the log an see they are regular feature, how do you find them?

Thanks Jay!
Cheers Coke! New course is a big change in direction for me. The last course was French and Linguistics; the new one is Countryside Management. It's all tree-felling, hedge-laying, wildlife conservation and tractor maintenance, that kind of thing.
Well, I've got a painful wrist atm, so laying off the deadlifts for a coupla weeks to let it heal. In the mean time, Alex is getting me to do a few accessories that will boost my deadlift when I get back to it.
Hip thrusts are one of them, as they help with breaking the weight from the floor (which is where I get stuck!). Finding them quite good so far. I originally tried to do them using my back supported on a bench, but that was difficult as I'm quite short and the bench had a tendency to tip over as I was pushing against it rather than lying on top.
So now I'm using an aerobic step and it's working much better.
Now I need something to replace deads with on a Friday for the short term. Thinking maybe GMs, coupled with the usual rows and pulldowns. Don't know anything else that hits the back but is easy on the wrists.

Hope the wrist heals up quickly, man.
Yeh, GMs and/or 45 degree back extensions would be my choices.

Summary:
Decent session. As with the squats, didn't want to try to bust out a heavy single after a week off.
Tired out after a hard day at college; spent the morning ripping down 200 yards of fencing, then the afternoon traipsing about the 650 acre campus studying the trees.
Picked up a fresh tub of protein powder today. Gonna blitz it, really get protein intake up.

Summary:
Swapped out the deadlifts for GMs, to see if I can heal the wrist whilst still working the posterior chain. Hammies really felt it afterwards.
Still very nervous about this movement as it completely goes against everything you've been taught re not lifting weights with your back, haha!
Rows felt strong today, could feel lats working.
Forgot about hip thrusts today. Mind all over the place, this week, with college work etc.

Summary:
Good session, really enjoyable. Certainly feeling the glutes activating more in the squat, no doubt a result of the Hip Thrusts!
Final set was pretty tough, tougher than it should be; doing a big food shop tonight with the intention of getting high-calorie foods I can take to college with me.
Big run tomorrow - 5km for time. No doubt legs will be aching from today's efforts, but can't let it stop me!
