Do 13mm Powerbelt interfere with Deadlifts

    Hi Guys,

I am about to buy an Inzer Single prong Powerbelt ... got tried of using my tapered belt for Deadlifts and light Squats,

    Just wondering,

    a) Does a 13mm single prong Powerbelt get in the way or hurt when doing deadlifts ?

    b) Is a 10mm single prong powerbelt better for deadlifts ?

read somewhere that if you have a bigger belly, it affects deadlifting with a 13mm Powerbelt,

My belly size is only 36 inches,

    5'9 height, 207 lbs

    Thanks

I'm 5-7" 213lb with a 38 waist. I have both the 13mm and 10mm single prong belts. I prefer the 10mm solely because it has more flex to it making it easier to put on.
    a) if put on properly, no. if you're wearing a tight suit, it could.
    b) this is preference. I use my 10mm oppose to the 13mm I have laying around

I've seen many guys turn the belt around backwards so that the buckle is in the back. Seems to help. I, myself use a 10mm belt and it doesnt seem to bother me if I keep the belt high.

My belly is not huge but it is existent, and I use a 13mm belt to deadlift in. It takes some getting used to but is fine once you do get used to it.

Guys that have issues with the belt are usually very large. We are talking 100+ over your weight. I think you would be fine with either the 10mm or the 13mm.

for me it does. Im 5'9" 240 and 38-39 waist. Its not so much the buckle as how stiff the belt is, it ends up killing my ribs on the sides. I deadlift with an inzer economy belt and its my favorite. it flexes enough to be pretty comfortable.

It sounds like you are trying to choose between 10mm or 13mm belt, and I would recommend that you go with the 10mm.

    Reasons:
    - A 10mm will provide plenty of support, a 13mm is not necessary for most people unless they are doing a lot of heavy equipped squatting and want a very stiff belt.
    - The 10mm is easier to break in.
    - A 10mm will be less Expensive

having used a 13mm in comp and now a 10mm in training, 10 mm is def the way to go. easier to get down to dlift, easier to break in, and def was cheaper.

sorry for just restating what youre saying tom, but i was astounded by how mucha difference a 10mm is from a 13

10 mm is the way to go. Much more flex for deadlifting.

Hmmm. I prefer the 13mm. Maybe its because I am tall (6'3") or not huge (225lbs), but to my mind it could even be stiffer...

I don't notice a difference between the 10mm and 13mm once they are both broken in for the deadlift. Raw squats I don't think it matter either, but in the gear I perfer the 13mm.

I'm barely 5'10" and have competed in recent years as heavy as 300 lbs. and as light as 262. Waist ranges from about 39 to 42 at these weights. I have a deep, low rib cage and not a lot of space between my ribs and pelvis. The 4 inch front on either belt interferes with me getting to the bar deadlifting. Love it on squats. I use a 10 mm Inzer forever belt (Tapered front) to deadlift and bench in. I use a 13mm American Belt Co. belt that Titan sells to squat in. You aready have a tapered belt. I'd consider using it to pull and bench, and focus on the best squat belt for you on your new belt. Good luck!

    deadlift belt

I got one of those Spud Deadlift belts.....the double ply.... it's really cool....doesn't restrict me by smashing in my ribs like my lever belt would, much softer yet very firm and gave good support....

I forgot about this belt. I have a double ply spud belt also and it works really good.

    Spud Belts

here's one website for the Spud Belt with a nice video of Brian Carroll using it http://www.southcarolinabarbell.com/...tNumber=SPUD21

EFS also sells them.......of those I've known that use them... everyone is surprised at first that such a comfortable belt can provide the support.... but it does!....it doesn't feel like it restricts my abdomen section like a normal leather belt.........

That's cool you decided on a belt. You'll love it once you get it broke in.
