When lifting something heavy (usually on benching & shoulder press) during the last couple of reps when I'm really struggling, I get this sharp pain in the upper part of the back of my neck and slowly spreads toward the back of my head. It F**king kills and it's keeping me from doing my regular weights and reps.
It's only been happening recently and I don't know what to make of it. I just wanted to get your guys' opinion on what it could be before I go see a chiropractor on Thursday
Are you looking overhead while you're doing these lifts? You might be putting pressure on the C1 spinal nerve. It gives sensation to the back of the neck and the back of the scalp.
well when i'm benching i'm lying down flat and looking at the ceiling and during shoulder press i'm looking straight forward. Plus I never got this before (started two weeks ago).
Odd.
I hurt that all the time I think. Last year, i pulled something so bad that the doc was worried i might have had an anneurysm so I had to get a CAT scan. Delphi, my upper traps are usually quite sore, and the muscles near my spine are sore as well which often leads to headaches. What can I do to prevent this?
