The open games registration starts February 1st. For those not aware, Crossfit has 1 competition WOD per week for 6 weeks as the preliminaries to qualify for sectionals, then the winners move on to the Crossfit Games in July. Anyone can compete for $10. Verification is as simple as submitting a video with someone verifying your reps, or performing the workout at a Crossfit affiliate with a judge, which then will be submitted by the affiliate management.

I did it last year, just to get a general idea of where I stand among the rest of the world. Actually finished around #7,500 out of 14,000 entrants. Better than I expected..lol
sounds interesting... good cash too... but i am fat and out of shape... but for $10 i might eneter it for giggles....and motivation....
EA Sports CrossFit Games 2012? Rumour or real?
I will register for the Open. I am more interested in competing Team vs individual. I go to an affiliate, so I can do the workouts there w/o having to submit a video.

First workout sucked. I got 86 burpees on a 12 per minute pace with some extra in the last minute. I think I can reach 90+ with another try. Won't matter though since everybody that's competitive this year are getting 135-150.

75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
135 pound Snatch, 30 reps
165 pound Snatch, 30 reps
210 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible
Hopefully next weeks is better I'd like to try one of these open workouts.

That was basically a weed out workout. There were a lot of people whose cap was 60 reps, the real difference was how many reps of 165 you could get. I smashed the hell out of my finger the other day so I wasn't able to try this one but I am curious to see how I would do once I get healthy.
