so i bought a C63 AMG. pretty awesome

I used to have an avalanche. i got rid of it yesterday and got a 2011 C63 AMG. i know there are some enthusiasts on here so i thought i would throw up a picture. its spectacularly excessive for the money. it has everything for its year.

    changed to some better pics....

thanks, Alex. i test drove the m3 twice.. i really wanted to like it more. but in the end, for me, the c63 is much more fun on the street and it is not nearly as gaudy. it is fantastic indeed

I was never remotely inspired by the M's. Then again, I've got a pair of mustangs and a 'vette, so I'm completely lacking in refinement.

Top Gear is television cocaine. I do love that episode, particularly how the Stig nearly chokes launching the F1 car. "every time you get in that car, the greatest thing is when you get out alive".

Yes. you picked the right car.

yea that was hilarious with the F1. I guess those are a bitch to launch though. Ever seen the one where Hammond drives I think Alonso's F1 and can't get the thing started for like a half hour? hahaha.

    edit: found it

hahaha, I saw that. Yeah, back in the 70's those things were crashboxes- all straight cut gears, no clutch. Try starting that shit with a high revving, relatively low displacement motor and fat slicks on the back.

Anyway, back to the C63. Sick.

1974 Stingray, standard L-48 motor w/edelbrock heads, no other mods currently. Putting on a side exhaust, replacing the bushings, really figuring out what to do next. Kind of a clean slate- honestly thinking about swapping out the motor entirely.

Nice car! I do like Mercs, especially the AMGs. There's a guy a hundred yards down my road who has an SL55 AMG. Lovely looking thing.

Nice Vette, Alex! I do like American muscle cars, call it a guilty pleasure lol.

I'm more into my bikes atm, than cars, but getting a couple of Alfa Romeos in a few weeks so I'm sure the petrolhead in me will come to life again.

Also, Top Gear rules. You ought to read some of Clarkson's columns he writes in various newspapers. Would love to go for a beer with the man, he cracks me up.

Good choice over the M3. The M3's V8 has an anemic torque curve. If you were going with a BMW, the 335i would have been a better choice over the M3.

    Put in an ls3!

Here is my FRC vette. Ran 11.7 at 125 on street tires yesterday. I need to lower it badly, sits way too high.

We've got a 1/4mile drag strip not too far from where I live (20-30miles away). They're pretty rare in England.

Very tempted to take the bike down there, see what it can do.

My friend and I, however, are buying ourselves a track car soon, which will be living on my driveway. We happen to have a few good 'proper' racing circuits nearby, including Silverstone, Donington Park and Cadwell Park.

We were originally looking at old Beemer 3 series, simply cos a) rwd b) cheap lol. But my friend and I are Alfisti, so we're gonna go for the 156 V6 instead. Can pick them up for next to nothing and they have sweet handling chassis.
