Let me ask you guys something about his form: If you watch in the mirror, when he goes heavy he lifts his hips first, then brings up the weight with his back. I have watched footage of my own dead lifts when I go heavy (for me) and I see I do the same thing. Is it bad form, or OK?
You can see it at 1:15. That's how mine look too, and I try not to. But maybe it's OK?

Not bad.
The guy is strong but I wouldn't call that a huge deficit. I regularly do deadlift with the bar going to my feet; of course, the back rounds. Which I believe is a good thing. That's the only variation of deadlift during which I actually really feel it in my hamstrings. I actually feel it a lot more in my hams than in my lower back, plus the lower back doesn't feel as tight afterward as when you only use it isometrically. All kinds of straight-leg deadlifts always felt to me like boring lower back exercises.
Kind of like this http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/Erec...gDeadlift.html but with more bend in the legs.
I think the term HUGE as relating to the weight, not the deficit...
3" is a pretty significant deficit. It makes a big difference in what one can actually pull.
And yes, the 605 for 8 is quite impressive for a bodybuilder.

Just get under the bar!
You think so? I thought his form looks pretty clean to me. He obviously has the build to pull as even with the deficit he doesn't have to bend his legs all that far to get into position. When I pull from that kind of deficit I feel like I have to squat ass to grass to get down enough.
