Chris,
Are you guys going to be at the mid-atlantic regionals?
m/37/5'10/194
Back Squat 435lbs
Shoulder Press 195lbs
Deadlift 505lbs
Bench Press 315lb
While all the second events look brutal, that first one makes me absolutely cringe. I have rowed 2000m once and was so dead after, I can't imagine trying to do all that stuff too, rowing sucks all the energy I have out of me.
6'1", 215lbs
Deadlift - 475, Front Squat - 320, Back Squat - 405
Some fun looking workouts! Sometime I will have to try that workout #2. That is the only one that might break me. I might well hit a brick wall on those hang cleans. Maybe I'll get a little stronger first . . .
One of the girls from my affiliate made Mid Atlantic regionals. Pretty impressive imo for a box with less than 100 members. She's tough!
My god Rich Froning is a BEAST! I just watched him live on the internet in event 2. He destroyed everybody and looked like he could have done the workout for a second round.
People say Crossfit makes you good at everything and great at nothing, but I guarantee nobody on this board could hang with him in any kind of event (except belial). He sets the standard of what Crossfit can do.
When I grow up, I'm going to be rich froning.![]()

Some of that looks tough, but stuff like handstand pushups is what makes people scratch their head when it comes to crossfit. The 2011 finals in on ESPN right now. Two of the events they showed at a softball toss and walking handstands...

i knew you were a beast but not that kinda of a beast that eats grown men and children.. lilmase
The softball thing was stupid, but one of crossfit's principles of fitness is to go and play/learn new sports regularly.
Handstands are a big part of gymnastics, which plays a big role in crossfit. But I do agree that whole 3-part event was kind of a waste, but still fun to watch imo.

Anybody watching what Jason Khalipa and Neal Maddox are doing? They are training partners.
So far out of four events, Jason placed 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st.
And Maddox - 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd.
That's insane, and cool because they're good friends.

lol.
Long live the sport of exercise. Impressive strength on display at tyhe regionals.
Move heavy weight, eat, sleep, repeat.
Geniuses make complicated scenarios simple, morons take simple concepts and complicate them.
Handstand push ups are pretty much over head presses... so why would they be considered strange?
Also, I watched a lot of regionals... can't wait for the games.. seems like some of the usuals will be at the podium though... both good and bad.
I think its amazing and says a lot about the top level competitors how they always seem to rise to the top 3 in their region, no matter how many thousand people are aiming for that target on their backs. The sport has blown up since khalipa won in 08, yet he still is top 5 in the game.

I agree. The competitor field is increasing dramatically but the legends are still in top form. I hated to hear josh bridges couldn't compete this year. He was phenomenal last time.
