I have been told many times that the hct 12 is not a routine to base on linear progression, but i still see myself hitting a slight plateau. For example for the passed 4 upper body routines i have worked the same amount of weight on all sets and have concluded the bench press at 225x5x2x2x2.
I was wondering if adjusting the reps could do me some sort of benefit for example using the same cluster training but on the first day i could work up to a weight that i could do comfortably 4x1x1x1 then the next ttime upper body swings around i could go for 6x2x2x2 with the same idea behind it as it is currently. Maybe even following the 6x2x2x2 upper body i could go into a 8x3x3x3 upper body day.
Are you doing the download week? I think your just wearing yourself out with the program and need to do a download week. Or take a week off completely.

Funny when guys don't follow the routine exactly (shortened deloads) and wonder why it isn't working for them?
Don't switch exercises, just stick with it, gains will come in spurts when working at your maxes. Eat more, rest more, and get your full deload at your next break. You started it, now stick with it. Switching will just be a giant step backwards.

Ive seen around here from some reputable people to skip the deload all together. Also ive been told that because im on the three day split I can either do a full deload which would be two uppers and one lower or two lowers and one upper or i can choose to just do one upper and lower deload and go back to the 6/2/2/2 scheme.

This oooooold guy at 50 is on week 2 of HCT-12. I'm feeling it much more than the full-body routine I'd been doing. i've gained a couple of pounds. The whole "auto-regulation" thing takes a while to get used to. It totally makes sense that you'll progress in weight when your body tells you it's ready. Anyway, I for one, am looking forward to that week of deload. Why do ppl always change things up? BTW...thanks WannaBeBig for giving us this free program. Hopefully, this old body can keep up with it.
