If any of you have read my journal, you'll know that I have trouble getting consistent results, and I get stuck often.
I followed a Starting Strength template for about 6 months and made some progress, but also stalled pretty badly.
Thinking of switching to the Westside Method, was wondering if any of you prefer one method over another.
As always, any comments on my journal are appreciated...

Thanks,

Westside, if properly practiced, is a FAR superior method. Read my deadlift article up now for a great Westside overview.
Stick to starting strength.

If you have the knowledge and know how to read your body and pinpoint your weaknesses go westside. No other program has given me as much results as westside. Plus its fun as hell.

looking at your stats in your journal i think you could still make progress with Starting Strength if the calories are there to back it up. And also Starting Strength is such a basic beginners program its barely fair to compare it to westside.
I don't know if you are at the level of being able to pin point your physical weaknesses and develop the proper regiment around said weaknesses. Starting strength is just meh...
Check your PM box.

I think its probably time to switch things up a little bit... getting some good advice in private email, thanks...
5/3/1 or HCT-12 may be a better option than westside until you learn how to read your body, develop an understanding of your weaknesses, and what movements address those weaknesses.

Read my article. This address your weaknesses argument is largely irrelevant...
This is a little silly... the OP really should have used the search function:

come on dude....![]()
I didn't realize this thread had already been done, whoops...
Anyhow, i have decided to try the 5/3/1 program, so maybe this debate is not necessary anymore..
FYI, on always telling people to search, I'm not a huge fan of that. People like new discussions and some people simply don't want to take the time to search through old threads (I am one of them).
I agree with you on this in a lot of cases Chris, however... this one is just too much: the threads have the SAME name/same topic; the old one is NOT that old (2010) and tons of forum regulars have already posted in it... I think the OP here could still have asked this question, he would have just been more informed and maybe his question could have been a little more nuanced if he'd read the original thread 1st...
I think if people use search judiciously, you'll still get new threads - there's always more to learn/get clarification on... and you stand a better chance of keeping the mods and pros here interested by not always having to rehash the same stuff... just my opinion....
Great DL article btw...
I'm not a huge fan of the search engine on the website, but google is very effective.
I generally type wannabebig followed by key words or phrases and it brings up various threads from over the years. Great tool, even for active long time members.
