    First CrossFit

Well, I did my first legit CrossFit workout today. By this I mean a legit CF workout (DT) at a CrossFit gym (my first visit). It kicked my a^%! The workout was 15 deadlifts, 9 half cleans, and 6 push presses (aka standing military press) at 155 pounds for 5 sets.

Before starting, I thought that I could kill this weight (deadlifting 155 is about as taxing as getting out of bed...), turns out, the cumulative effect of this just kills you. And the fact that this is timed makes it even harder. I consider myself a moderately advanced powerlifter (though I recognize there are a bunch of guys much better than me), but I thought this CF stuff was a joke. It was a great experience.

I am a guy with serious doubts about CF - there is a lot of B.S, out there, but from my first experience, I am really impressed. Let me put it this way: I outlift my lifting partner in every way possible, but we were about even in the CF stuff. I'm starting to think there might be something to this.

    Thoughts are welcome.

Yup, CF isn't about raw strength, it's about work capacity. Different beast entirely.

Props for giving it a shot instead of dismissing it all together. All the workouts have that effect. You can read them and laugh at how easy it is, then 2-3 minutes in and you're like, what the fuck is happening right now?

Awesome. It'll probably be a nice change of pace for you too.

What's a Half Clean? Would that be another name for Hang Clean?

Surprisingly, my lats were sore for 3 days - which is very rare, I normally recover very quickly.

Yep, I meant Hang Clean - I don't normally do Olympic-style lifts (e.g. snatches and cleans). I'll definitively have to work those into the routine. Won't be able to join the CrossFit gym, though, membership is $175/month!

Yeah, the prices charged at boxes are INSANE!!! I quit them a long time ago, and now either use my gym a the house or a regular old gym.
