Just hit the gym for 2nd time ever on Wednesday. Shocked by what I saw.

    Title says it.

I usually lift at home, but decided to go to the gym yesterday with my sister who hadn't gone in 6 months.

Okay, so I hit the weight room and started off on the bench. I then did deadlifts, squats, 1 set of curls (didn't have a workout planned) and finished off with with seated OHP.

Alright, what I was shocked to see in the gym was the amount of curl bros. I was literally stunned during the workout from seeing people do 100 different variations of curls. Absolutely insane.

Can somebody please explain to me the purpose of curling all day and doing nothing else? Shouldn't all these fools be doing BIG coumpound moves to get big everywhere? What the hell is going on here?

Anyways, sorry if I wasted anybody's time writing this, but I'm being sincere here. What the hell are these idiots doing at the gym!? I swear I was just expecting some idiot to start curling in the squat rack, but luckily there's a sign up saying it's for Sq and Dl only. Phew!

I really feel sorry for you guys having your session slowed by some idiot curling in the squat rack.

    Peace.

One old guy benching on the machine, one other kid with a decent physique benching(loads of normal sets followed by decline) and 2 big guys who were talking about squats. Everyone else was curling 24/7. I though people talking about curl bros were going over the top, but it's so true.

Maybe I was lucky in that in Central Ohio there is no shortage of gyms for serious strength training so I have never really experienced what you described, but honestly don't let it bother you unless it somehow keeps you from doing what you want to do.

It doesn't bother me at all, I was merely observing this because I didn't have a workout planned and was taking long breaks in between excercises. It's just shocking to see people doing this thinking they're gonna get huge. I mean, my bro's friend told him one day "I did 100 weights" my brother congratulated him, but then asked how heavy these weight were. Turns out he curled 2kg(5lbs) each hand for 100 reps. Sad.

last time i went to the gym i saw people doing squats on the curl rack. I was like what are these people trying to do, that exercise doesn't overtrain biceps!

Lol so true. I thought I'd like going to a hardcore gym.

Can't say I like waiting 15 minutes to use the squat rack.
