There is significantly lesser time under tension in sumo than conventional as well.

Yeah, the bumper plates combined with long arms and sumo stance made that guy hardly have to work for each rep. If you watch it practically bounced to lockout. I'm not usually one to comment on such things, but facts are facts.

With that said, he got 43 reps and that is a LOT!

I've never understood what people meant by this. Im curious. I understand that you can get some momentum going by letting the plates make hard contact with the ground, but that can only create so much '"bounce" from what I believe. Thoughts on my opinion?

Have you any experience with bumper plates?

Well, I know what I can tell you from experience. The fact those are bumper plates on a rubber surface only enhances the effect. The bounce is why you will see guys struggle with a first rep and then get 3-4 more on heavier sets as well. You also get the stretch reflex and kinetic energy once you are using multiple reps.

I was there, it was a great competition. Lerch definitely upped his game. Last time Derek did it, he weighed 300. He was 330 this time and just gassed. He won the heavyiest pull no problem. If he does it again I am going to compete in the reps just for fun.

    Supplements I currently take: Nitrean , BCAA , Creatine 500 , Multi-Plus , Fish Oil

I have to agree. Not trying to take away from the guys accomplishment, but from personal experience I find it MUCH easier to hit higher reps with a sumo stance. I pull considerably more with a conventional stance, but when I drop the weight down to 500 or less I can hit probably 1.5x as many reps with a sumo stance vs conventional.
