    Jean Pierre Fux out!!

Yup, the big man, weighin in at 280 lbs is out of the Olympia he qualified so easily for a few weeks ago at the Night of Champions. A month or 2 ago he collapsed on squats underneat 675 lbs. Needless to say his knees are pretty much fuked.

I saw pictures of his knees on another board after they stitched him up. Looked nasty.

That is too bad, I feel for the guy. He was supposedly doing a photo shoot for Flex when it happened. I hate to see anyone have their livelihood put in jeopardy. I hope he makes it back!

Knee injuries are the worst. Do you think the dude will ever be able to make it back? Time and time again I hear many athletes (not bodybuilders) retire do to a devasting knee injury, I hope this is not the case for this guy.
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

ooohhh..i've been living in Atlanta too long.

i saw the title of this thread, and honestly thought you meant out as in out of the closet.

anyways.....that's messed up. can i ask just how these types of accidents happen to these guys? how exactly do you blow out both your knees or tear a bicep or whatever? is it just that the amoutn of strength they have is too much for their muscles to handle?

Injuries like that usually happen when the form slips a bit. Usually if a knee blows out squating its when the knees bow in then the patella pretty much blows up.
Ed Coan the powerlifter just blew out his patella squating 900+ cause his knees came in.

    I can sympathize

When I was a kid(about 5 years old if I recall)I had a knee operation,it was due to having too much synovium fluid in my knee.So I can say from experience that after an operation your knee will never be the same again

Pg. 130 of this month's Flex has pictures of it happening--his legs crumpled under him. I'd feel bad, but the dude was squatting with 675lbs in a power rack WITHOUT THE PINS IN. I can't feel much sympathy when someone is that stupid.

We tend to think of Sisyphus as a tragic hero, condemned by the gods to shoulder his rock sweatily up the mountain, and again up the mountain, forever. The truth is that Sisyphus is in love with the rock. He cherishes every roughness and every ounce of it. He talks to it, sings to it. It has become the mysterious Other. He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesn’t realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.
