Hi Guys, I am a natural lifter but .... no longer a serious lifter, now into MMA and stick fighting
this happen to me about a 2 months ago, When doing 135lbs tricep extension 12 reps and 3 sets after warm ups to get huge strong triceps, been doing this only twice a month for 3 years. No issues or pain....but 2 months ago, while doing this, I felt pain in my right elbow, where the tricep muscles connects to the bone while doing Lying Tricep Extension...... No Pain with heavy tricep cable push downs or heavy benchpress ...
rested for 2 week, did Lying Tricep Extensions again, pain still there, I man up with the pain and finish the sets,
So i decided to not do it for 2 and half weeks... got better, but when doing my full set, there is the pain again. no swelling just pain in the elbows where the tricep muscles connects to the bone.
I love Lying Tricep Extensions, dont wanna go lighter...
So been taking Glucosamine sulfate,
btw.. been hitting the Punching bag with elbows and been doing Arnis or sticking fighting, using the right arm more often... might be one of the causes
what should i do before going to the doctor...... have you guys experience this.
is this a sign of age, I am already 31....... thanks my brothers of the Iron....![]()

You most likely have tendonitis in the elbows. Ice and anti inflams will help and back off the triceps extensions.

Try barbell exts with chains. Allows you to go full range but its only very heavy at the top. I have been doing those lately and my elbows are feeling solid.

Chain flys work well for people with pec issues too, what fun chain does to these standbys. OP you can also sub-in to a degree close grip board presses or find an extension variant that does not bother the elbow (or at least keep away from higher intensities). You could also use a neutral grip or use a swiss bar to see if that doesn't piss the elbow off. Best to avoid what hurts and to actively try to fix that issue first though.

Of course your elbow hurts. You're punching. What do you expect to happen? I'd stop doing anything that hurts, unless you want to hurt.
Thanks guys, It does not hurt when I do heavy BenchPress, military presses or tricep cable push downs
This is the first time this happened to me, also striking the punch bag might contribute to it.
I have heard of tendonitis before....
btw... Powerlifting gives me explosive strength unmatched by my pure martial arts or bodybuilding training partners
thanks![]()
