Does running or doing cardio increase your metabolism after you are finished? I read that doing cardio can burn fat or increase your metabolism hours after you have finished. I don' know much about biology, but wouldn't the effects stop once your body has returned to normal functioning or when your heart rate slows down?

there research saying that if you to cardio and burn off 600 cals you will burn another 100 cals before your metabolism return to the pre exercise level. so yes for a while you will burn more cals after training before your metaolism returns to normal. though this will vary from person to person and fitness levels etc.
