Good Lord! He is brute strong and you can tell he has nothing much in the way of technique...

I caught the video of the squat he lost due to stepping back. Seemed like he was good for more too.

Just get under the bar!
Neither of those weights looked like any effort to him.
Sounds, from the text, like he's somewhat new to powerlifting, too. Get him a good coach and who knows how strong he might end up?

Apparently it's his 2nd meet. Did an 800 in loose wraps at an APA meet. Plans to lift at Raw Nationals against Blaine Sumner (880 lb squat in same fashion).
There's a video on his youtube of him squatting 770 x 5 with a crappy bar and crosstrainers. Sky's the limit for this guy. In an interview he said he couldn't load any bars at his gym past 800 so a new bar and 100 lb plates have been sent to him.

Yeah, I saw that video a couple days ago. This guy is crazy strong! What did he end up totaling at the meet?

He did 860 S (missing that 905 - apparently he wanted to do 1000 but they didn't have enough plates), 465 Bench, 700 DL = 2025. The drug tested all-time total Raw World Record is 2100 and wrapless squat is 881 so he should be close to those at his next meet.

He doesn't squat over 700 in training cause he can't fit more than 700 on the bar at the gym. He wanted 1000 at this meet but they didn't have enough plates to do it. Totally nuts!

That guy is crazy strong.
Shit the bed. He actually broke parallel with that...
Whats with the 700 dead though? You'd think it'd be a bit higher at least. Some guys are just natural-born squat machines.
I would imagine those horse legs and huge gut make it difficult for him to reach the bar. Also, he is just pulling wih brute strength and probably isn't maximizing technique at this point.

I was going to post a question about eating to be strong. But after watching that video the answer is simple. Cornbread it is!!
He has family not too far from where I am and is a little closer to where Rob is. I know he's been talking with Rob online, hopefully I'll be able to get the two of them up here to the gym (I've got the bar and weights, they can squat however heavy the need too) and we'll barbecue afterwards.
As far as the food goes.... I've been saying it on facebook for a while, you want to get just plain damned strong? Eat like Grandpa ate. It is that simple. We are inundated with nutritional bullshit day and night in this country. 100 years ago, things were simple. fresh meat (half or more of it that you shot the day before), eggs, cornbread (or whole wheat bread), whole milk and vegetables (ie okra, green beans, collard greens, green shit with vitamins). Look at it really closely, that is the diet many of the Russian/European lifters that some of us idolize are also are eating... there is logic behind that diet and there has been more than one world record built on it. It is good sound logic based on results.
Finally ELITE @ SHW..
Single ply: 920 squat, 760 bench, 530 deadlift= 2180 total
Multi ply: 960 squat, 770 bench, 550 deadlift = 2250 total.
The next stop: PRO total.
