Not sure what forum this should go in, but in the last two/three weeks that I've been cutting I've lost about 6 pounds. The weird thing about this is that during this time, all of my lifts have continued to progress (look at my journal). While not huge progression, they haven't slowed down or stopped like I was afraid they would.
Now, first off, I'm not complaining.. but how can this happen? To gain muscle you have to be eating more then you need, to lose fat you have to be eating less. The two can't happen at the same time, right? I've got two theories on it. One, I changed routines. Body is adapting to it. This doesn't explain why exercises I did before switching the routine continue to gain though.
Two, before cutting my protein wasn't high enough. Could my body, because of this, be catching up despite the lack of calories/carbs in my diet?
Anyone got any ideas on why? Like I said, no complaints, but I'd kinda like to understand it.

I've been wondering alot about the protein thing myself. While at school I was eating alot more protein and everything seemed to go great, but at home......yea, so, I'm kinda wondering if you've been protein deficient and you start eating alot of protein if maybe your body responds by givin ya muscle.
......wtf am I talking about?

I have been kind of dieting the past few months and my strength gains have gone through the f*cking roof. I am not sure how / why. But my strength continues to climb.
This proves that the diet/ supplement industry is full of it because contrary to popular belief, you do NOT need to consume massive amounts of calories to gain strength and muscle. If you are taking in enough protein, staying away from bad foods, you WILL burn fat AND gain muscle. Guaranteed.
My strength has gone up while losing and/or maintaining weight for the past 10 months or so.
I feel my strength gains would most likely be better if I would have been putting on size though.

Strength gains depend very much on neurological adaptation... meaning you can be losing weight (and even a little muscle mass) while at the same time your getting stronger because your nervous system is better utilizing your muscles (for instance more efficient firing, fiber recruitment, etc...)
