Are they overated ?
Are dumbell curls just as effective?
Does anyone consistently work withough barbell curls...
I generally stick with 2 exercises of 2 sets each for biceps..I have never really got on with barbell curls, I often feel it in my wrists too much..
Also what are everyones opinions on hammer curls ? I stopped them for a while and I think I actually noticed my forearms get less developed from quitting them..
Anyway so I might go back to a non barbell bicep routine..
2 x incline seated curls
2 x hammer curls
Any ideas ?
I do
3 sets concentration db curls
3 sets incline db curls
3 sets hammer curls
I think the hammer curls are great for my forearm and bicep. The first two sets I do weight that I can handle while still struggling, then the last set I do as much weight as I can do. I think it's working very good. So IMO hammer curls are a must.
Hulk, barbell curls are not a must. I feel that they are superior for me, but I have a friend with some of the best arms I have ever seen and he rarely does barbell curls, he loves his dumbell curls. So, use what works best for YOU. You should use that philosophy on all of your movements, pick the ones which work best for your unique anatomy.
I grew better when I gave up any curls and focussed on more weight on rows, chins, etc. I do a set of db curls now and then repping out with 60s, but more for fun...
i get best results with bb curls. i think its cause with db curls i can cheat cause like well if im curling 50s on a db my body can can cheat more cause im doing one arm at a time so its only 50lbs each rep but when im bb curling like 120 my body doesnt have that much of a advantage u know ...well that just me. like chris said , i have a cousin who db curls and has a nice set of guns, but bb curls doesnt do it for him..

My best advice would be : LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. If you think that barbell curls doesn't work for you or hurts quit them, if you feel the pump and see the results with other curls, continue with them.
Remember, go heavy and get big. When i started training, i feel that the lat pulldowns doesn't help me and i only use some chins and heavy rows, and now, my back is my best bodypart.![]()

Might try reverse barbell curls, don't go too heavy though. I had a wrist problem for nearly 3 months from going too heavy on reverse curls.
What is Barbell Curl and what is dumbell curl, I know its biceps exercises, but what kind.

Curls done with a barbell and curls done with a dumbell.

Db curls are every bit as effective as bb curls, maybe even better. With dumbells you can also use suppination to involve biceps even more. My right bicep is stronger though, so I'm sticking with barbells for now.
